Ο εθνικός μας ποιητής, Διονύσιος Σολωμός, γεννήθηκε το 1798 στη Ζάκυνθο. Τα έργα του έδωσαν ώθηση στους Επαναστατημένους Έλληνες. Οι πρώτες στροφές του ποίηματός του “Ύμνος εις την Ελευθερία”, αποτελούν τον Εθνικό Ύμνο της Ελλάδας. Πέθανε στις 9 Φεβρουαρίου του 1857 στην Κέρκυρα.
