Finally had a moment to reflect on the Midlands fires today.
Over the past week or so, I've been to gutted homes and gardens in Birmingham and Stoke-on-Trent and on the ground at the devastated Stourbridge Golf Club.
One of the biggest stories I've ever covered.
Hello @andy4wm
For the Invictus Games can we make sure there are not teenage agency workers not being forced to work 6am to midnight on minimum wage with unpaid breaks!
Behind the gleaming events is corporate greed + exploitation which is a shocking indictment on Birmingham
Full day of admin today as hours of being on hold to banks, various council departments, solicitors, USA embassy, estate agents.
Lost phone + number created a Kafkaesque two step authentication nightmare, holding up house sale + getting US media visa for Nov midterms.
#Ballache
In danger of sounding like a "if u've done nothing wrong uve nothing to worry about" div...
As someone who recently homed a vulnerable homeless man, noone in Brum should be homeless. HMO companies are lining to get £1,200 plus a month housing benefit for a room!
#R4Today
Fair play to @andyburnham for trying to eradicate #homelessness but due to disastrous Care in the Community mental health policy means it's almost impossible to achieve zero rough sleepers.
Mistaking begging "tappers" as homeless is another problem

Do you remember when you joined X? I do! #MyXAnniversary
Blimey - started as an account for my charity PR job as like so many other things in my life I lost log-ins for @HardNewsAdam - amazingly somehow @stevezacharanda is still active whereas beloved Facebook account lost
First Stokeless test, only English cricket could lose our captain + best player over a nightclub visit.
Anyone "let down" + blarted about a grown man having a tot are to blame for the gaping world class hole in our line up.
Whole scandal was overblown by idiotic #ECB

Several of the agency staff who ensured The European Athletics Championships was a success in Perry Barr were being forced to work from 6am until midnight!
An 18 hour shift with unpaid 2 30min breaks + an hour.
Staff, some 16, on minimum wage being exploited for overpriced sport!
🚨 After 8 years at the Express & Star, and 5 seasons of covering Wolves, the time has come for me to step away from my role at the newspaper. It was my dream job growing up to cover my boyhood club and it has definitely lived up to it!
From every manager interaction, player interview, post match video and chats with fans - it’s been an absolute blast. Thank you for reading every article and watching every video - it’s what has made it all worthwhile.
Hoping for a win against Preston in my final game for the E&S 🤞
#Birmingham2026 I've got a six day parking pass for a spot 500 metres from Alexempty Stadium............
Star Reporter Adam retweeted
Lots of comments on the empty stands in the stadium last night.
You can see the exact row where the price of ticket goes up! It was packed in the cheap seats.
Monday night is a tough sell & it will pick up, but maybe the price point should be cheaper on weekdays?
Maybe telling people nearest parking is Bescot in Walsall is putting people off #birmingham2026
So according to Midlands Today #Birmingham2026 "has caught the imagination" but we at saft.
Thousands of empty seats say it all, if tonight is empty then someone needs to be sacked. Embarrassing.
Then again Birchfield Harriers couldn't even afford to get in their own stadium
For that one hotdog you can get a mixed grill at Church Tavern
Yep, that's the Midlands Daily News Journalist of the Year hawking his residents parking permit for #Birmingham2026 holding a can of cider before 1pm on a Monday ....

I tell you what would be great for #birmingham2026 visitors to Perry Barr is a Boxpark!
Remember that broken Commonwealth Games promise to Perry Barricans @BhamCityCouncil ???
Thanks for ruining my news detox @stevezacharanda as I recalibrate my daily news sense bashoutability to the more strategic style of writing books.
But, it's only stopped spinning after my beloved once Mighty HN didn't splash on discovery of Phil Lynett's Rowley Regis house
Replying to @halesowennews
@halesowennews PA story of Bill Oddie death in 'celebrities' section.
No mention Oddie was from Halesowen.
Until Morgan Rogers, Oddie was town's most famous son edging out that forgotten 1900s thriller writer.
Hard news hero @AdamLocal will be spinning in his journo grave.
