As usual Adam has the goods. Social media is a fertile playground of persuasion and pay for play.
Perhaps. If I may respectfully knock on the door of your tweet 🚪 May we consider the brief assessment cannot be looked at in isolation From what I understand of the demographics of the social media universe, there are way more young white men on social media, such as X, then any other demographic in the US - for these people X and social media is their largest “news” source and - of that it’s largely white This makes them uniquely vulnerable to attack on many fronts, and the Democrat strategy after 2024 was engineered to exploit this The first dollars went into "Speaking with American Men" (SAM) Project - analysis of online discourse in particular - syntax, language, and online spaces where ‘young men’ fill their brains - so their strategy was to “meet them where they are" on the platforms (particular rdit and disxord The Dems stopped focusing on “woke” and politics and changed emphasis to places where alienated/isolated young adults spend time like betting sites like Draftkings and the ilk and buying ads in games etc Dems also went heavy on “unbranded content” (meaning not the big brand shops like BuzzFeed etc) - a lot of this was in hand in hand collaboration with “social media influencers” - particularly those that are categorically “conservative” - the ambizione (h/t Nich M) was to get their stealth content to go viral but without the donkey logo - to deploy they contractually engaged they 3rd party cut-outs to create a paper chasm, much of this was also via conservative social media conduits - Didja notice that Nick sortor’s “Talarico is a nut” was structurally identical to “black insurrectionist” - odd that both had some of the same conservative influencers amplifying. Dunno - they employed charismatic messengers (Matt Walsh is like that isn’t he, dunno) who felt relatable and went waist deep into bro’dom In the last year they went heavy into “shits expensive” marketing strategy stuff Conservative influencers were also crucial in diffusing and propagating these messages even though rhe substance of inflation holds little actual merit as we have substitute products. - so many examples such as cost of a fast food meal things that went viral 💯 had inception in Dem marketing firms and architected to get conservative virality and to poopoo things such as “eat at a different joint” Anyhoo, I’m tired and excited cs Friday is tosca (again) and this weekend has some boutique off off off Broadway performances of Shakespeare

We're in a new era of communication, and only one side seems to be living in it. The old guard consultant class is about to be relegated to the dustbin of history. If you think that high prices lost the election for the right, you don't understand marketing. Humans have no problem paying a premium for a good quality brand. Notice the word "brand", not "product". Are Nikes better than New Balance? Nope. But the brand is better. And notice what happened when they tinkered with the brand and screwed their core narrative? Nike stock fell through the basement. Did the product change? Nope. The brand did. It's not the product, it's the brand. Results don't sell the product, the storytelling does. Will these newly-elected commies lower prices? Of course not. Are they gonna get you free healthcare? No, your insurance is gonna get even worse, just like it did the last time they tried socialized medicine. They're not going to do anything they've sold you, but...like Saul Goodman said: if you're committed enough, you can make any story work. The committed storytelling of a couple insane podcasters was enough to fracture an entire political coalition from their own side in less than 2 years...they have zero power, zero credibility, they've never actually governed anything nor produced any results, but...they're good storytellers, and that's all that matters. Are they telling a good story? No, it's atrocious, but they're telling their atrocious story effectively and compellingly. It is 100% true that everything's too damn expensive, and we all know that inflated prices are always sticky. Does anyone know that it's entirely the result of shutting down the global economy over the flu and (both naive republicans and democrats) printing infinity dollars for several years? Nope...because nobody has effectively told that story, and it's an unsexy story to tell. "Free stuff!" is a VERY easy story to tell, and when everyone's gotta take out a second mortgage just to pay their insurance premiums, "free healthcare" is an unbeatable story. It doesn't matter that "free healthcare" doesn't exist and socialized medicine is a terrible product...it's not the product, it's the brand. And "FREE!" is a great brand. You can't get mad at people for having the financial literacy of a 9 year old. I mean, you can, but they outnumber you a million to one, so it's not going to be productive. You need to figure out how to make an unsexy story sexy, or else the "free stuff!" crowd is going to eat your lunch every time. If you give people a choice between earning a six pack on a treadmill or taking Ozempic, they're gonna choose Ozempic...they don't care about the side effects. If you give people a choice between fiscal discipline or free stuff...guess what they'll pick? They don't care about the side effects. With projected growth of 5%, the economy right now is stronger than it's been in generations. Is that the story you hear? Nope. Is that the vibe you feel? Absolutely not, especially when every time you fill up your gas tank, it feels like a diesel enema. It's not the product, it's the brand. A great product can fall into oblivion with bad messaging...a single bad review from one effective storyteller can tank a restaurant. The "influencer economy" is lucrative for a reason; everybody inherently understands the importance of effective storytelling...except the right. Zohran Mamdani gets it...he has an army of influencers on staff. In a perfect metaphor of this transitional phase of old guard vs new wave political messaging, Zohran nuked the Vice President into oblivion with maybe the biggest ratio in the history of the internet. By simply posting the subway assistant meme, Mamdani got 2 MILLION likes, quoting a post from the VP that had only 10K likes. If you're reading that sentence thinking "this is fucking ridiculous, you're talking about social media likes as political analysis now?"...you are the problem. Yes, this stuff matters. Rizz matters. The President did a masterful job of this kind of retail politics in his historic 2024 campaign...you can be angry that this is what politics has been reduced to, but you can either adapt or die. "No the problem is, you didn't deliver enough for the American people!" Are you a moron? Since when does anybody care about that? What have democrats delivered for Californians in the last 20 years? Unmitigated wildfires, homeless drug zombies everywhere, roads that look like Fallujah in 2004...people don't care about results. They think they care about results. That want you to believe they care about results, just as Nike wants you to believe their shoes are better than New Balance...but at the end of the day, all people really care about is the swoosh. Adapt or die.
Guys, I hate to break it to you, but most political advisors are so bafflingly incompetent, it would make your head spin. All the talented communicators go work in Hollywood or at Saatchi and Saatchi, and these political bros never tap these agencies for help...I've connected several campaigns with literally the best marketing geniuses in the game, got them discounted rates, even...and they just never even bothered calling. It truly feels like a lot of consultants and candidates just want to lose. You ever wonder how my ads went so massively viral, but there's not been a single candidate who's come close to it? It's their dumbass advisors. I didn't go with any political advisors, and they were SO mad about it. I partnered with a filmmaker and marketing wizard, instead of political grifters. Why? Because I wanted our messaging to be effective. Political ads suck. Nobody watches them. I wanted people to want to watch my ads. The fact that nobody else understands this is...I honestly don't know how to explain it, other than they want to lose. There are a bunch of candidates who love it when their party loses power. It takes all the heat off them, because then they can't be expected to pass legislation when they're in the minority, plus they can fundraise way better off of the rage when the opposition is running roughshod over the country. Baffling to watch.

As an Iranian who has been closely following US politics from the outside over the past two years, let me tell you what was the reason behind the midterm election results in my opinion. Many were blaming the Iran war. The war in Iran was essentially a proxy war whose battlefield happened to be in Iran, but behind the scenes, a complex network of global powers was involved. China, Russia, Arab nations, the Democrats, and most importantly, the UK and European liberals were the lifelines and supporters of this regime, they had no intention of ever letting the Islamic regime in Iran go. The Islamic regime functioned as their tool, their financial cash cow, and their asset in the region, to entangle the US in the region and weaken it. Trump confronted and stood against this entire network. He knew the regime was holding the Strait of Hormuz hostage, but he had the courage to step up, take the risk, and push forward. In response, they had no tools left except the narrative war. A big sophisticated network started warmongering rhetoric and propaganda. Beyond the mainstream media, they even recruited right-wing podcasters like @TuckerCarlson , who suddenly flipped their positions and began spreading false narratives. One of their primary tactics was stoking antisemitism and exploiting societal sensitivities, repeating lies until they were accepted as absolute fact. They kept claiming this was Israel’s war, which it simply wasn’t. I grew up in Iran and was forced to chant "Death to America" every morning at school, but I never once said "Death to Israel." This regime was obsessed with US, you are just so lucky you got Israeli intelligence in keeping you updated on the threat. Without Israel, you may had learned about it after a nuclear 9/11. This was America’s war, a fight against a system that was being weaponized to undermine the United States. As for the necessity of this conflict, Trump had known for years (dating back to his first term) what needed to be done with this regime. Why this timing? Because the people of Iran rose up in January 2026. If you had paid attention, the military buildup started immediately afterward because any meaningful action had to tap into the energy and courage of the Iranian people. No one in the media tells you that the Islamic regime massacred 75,000 people in Iran, and suddenly that horrific atrocity became a non-issue, completely brushed aside by those who are obsessed with Gaza. The fearmongers constantly tried to claim that this is just another "forever war," when in reality, Trump was actively preventing a repeat of the Iraq and Afghanistan disasters. What happened back then was a sudden, uncalculated collapse with no plan for the aftermath, plunging those countries into chaos and trapping America in a quagmire. But this time, Trump was handling it in a very controlled manner, applying limited, gradual pressure to steadily weaken the regime so the people could take their country back themselves, without needing any American boots on the ground. They knew full well that there were no boots on the ground in Iran and that their claims were baseless, yet they intentionally made mountains out of molehills to distort public opinion and hence bail out the regime. But it changes nothing for @realDonaldTrump , he finishes what he starts, and this will become his lasting legacy. Sadly, by making these choices, Americans have deprived themselves of domestic progress Trump could have offered, and even worse, let the enemy within inside the Senate and the House. I truly hope this serves as a wake-up call so that by 2028, these lies won’t work on you anymore.

Actor John C. McGinley proudly raised his son Max, who was born with Down syndrome in 1997, firing his agent who advised him to hide the diagnosis and instead making Max a visible, cherished part of his life and a catalyst for disability advocacy... A reporter once asked him if he ever wished his son were “normal.” His answer was simple: Max was normal. The problem wasn't his son's condition—it was society's narrow definition of what "normal" is supposed to look like. In 1997, actor John C. McGinley welcomed his son Max into the world. Shortly after Max was born with Down syndrome, John sat down with his talent agent to discuss his career. The agent offered a piece of advice meant to protect John’s Hollywood career. He suggested keeping the situation completely private, warning that studios might hesitate to hire him if he spoke out. John looked at him and said, "You're fired." Instead of hiding his family away, John chose complete openness. He took Max everywhere with him. They walked red carpets together, appeared on talk shows, visited movie sets, and attended public events side by side. At a time when individuals with developmental disabilities were often kept out of public view, John made sure his son was visible. He introduced Max to the world with total pride, deep love, and no apologies. What started as a father loving his child turned into decades of passionate advocacy. John became a leading voice for Down syndrome awareness. He used his public platform to advocate for inclusion, fighting for equal opportunities so people with disabilities could work, contribute, and live meaningful independent lives. During one public interview, a reporter asked John if he ever wished his son were normal. John did not hesitate. He replied that Max was normal, and that the question itself was what was flawed. His response challenged the idea that human value depends on fitting into standard social expectations. Years have passed since then, and Max has grown into an adult who works, participates in his community, and demonstrates what is possible when given a fair chance. John often reflects on how his son shaped his perspective, stating that Max never held him back for a single moment. Through Max, he learned valuable lessons about patience, love, acceptance, and commitment. When Max was born, the world suggested he should be tucked away out of sight. John spent decades making sure people saw him, heard him, and recognized his worth as a person. Some parents protect their children by shielding them from the world. Others protect them by teaching the world to make room for them. True inclusion begins when we stop seeing differences as limitations. Max didn’t need to change to belong. The world needed to change to include Max. Looking back on every red carpet, film set, and quiet moment at home, John knows one thing for certain: Max was never a challenge to be overcome, but a gift to be cherished. True love doesn't ask a child to fit the mold of the world; it reshapes the world so the child can shine exactly as they are. #drthehistories

I’m 60. As a kid the recurring, and episodic “scare” was killer bees. - repeated reports they were moving north through Mexico, sightings in Texas, expected arrival in Louisiana. - It was the pre-cable version of a rolling death ticker. - i also remember the 1970s global-cooling coverage. Media thrives, like the salt monster in og Star Trek, on amplifying uncertain threats. As to the testimony itself, the quote is structured to resist scrutiny (of course I defer to Sowell and Popper) - “I think” is an opinion. - “More likely than not” is not a measured probability. - “Loses control” has no operational definition that could be tested or disproven without the claim simply expanding. - The extinction clause frames disagreement as opposition to humanity rather than a dispute over evidence or timelines. By having this testimony and making it a Fauci’ish spectacle it’s clear that the panic being generated is in search of an audience to activate in its cause. It also invites violence, which seems to be its final destination
This same guy, and all of his fellow travelers, supports open borders and the destruction of the West. Not a credible person on AI risk. This is a psyop.

Lots of incentive for the type of players you describe. Being the opposition party is one republicans have played for years because it pays well without requiring actual governance. Best example- Trump requested the Republican legislation to overturn Obamacare that republicans had been screeching about for years and the Ryan led congress delivered absolutely nothing. It was always just a fundraising and campaign issue with zero actual attempt to legislate.
Strange how the people on the “right” who keep screaming about the “Epstein class” and tried to destroy his second term over that opp are all six degrees of separation from foreign countries and foreign contacts that all stand a lot to gain from multipolarity and easing sanctions on Iran. Crazy how that works. Almost like they don’t give a damn about anything but making money. As they burn America down.

#digger Beyond being a masterpiece of cinema, off screen it is a masterpiece on the nature of the moviegoer, the critic, the cynic, the ideological Don Quixote in search of opposing ideological Don Quixotes to vanquish It is a masterpiece on lifting up the curtain and revealing the insatiable appetite for formulaic movies attended by formulaic moviegoers and reviewed by formulaic critics. It’s as if all three constituents are instead in the domain of food, and here they sit together at a McDonalds. The menu, like every McDonald’s has the same fare. The hungry customer wants that food, it’s why they are there. The critic uses highbrow preening verbiage to scold, and to persuade, about how the McDonald’s food ‘should be’. And yet here they are, everyday, sitting in that McDonald’s. Everyday. A. Why did Digger cost so much? Q. Why do you care? 🗣️ “Haha, look at what a bomb it is, look at the box office!” - One element of this is that in the red carpet advance showings, the ‘embargoed’ critics in attendance said, in unison, that it was a jumbled mess, that the audience only politely clapped at the end and otherwise thought it was close to garbage. Of course this is not true, but the movie is vulnerable me to this line of attack because to defend the movie requires giving ways it’s surprises. Critics panned it also because it is the currency of their trade, to drive the movie to a lower box office makes their own stock go up. And so on and so on

Charlie is why I am voting in the midterms for the first time ever. He gave all and allowing those that cheered his death to benefit from apathy and despair is unacceptable
I think about this in the context of Charlie Kirk, almost daily. How do you balance moral duties to your family while your country is under attack. These are not abstract questions. Everyone effective knows they face ruin, or worse.
