The work of some musicians can become so ingrained in your life story that you feel a personal, para-social connection to them. Chris Rea was one of a select few artists that attained that status for me 🧵 (1/4)

#Shetland remains weekly appointment viewing for me. The penultimate ep’s cliffhanger moment is, surely, which @DeaconBluemusic track from #Raintown were they seeking out? 🤔⛈️💙
Our Twilight Zone cortijo nights returned tonight for the first time in a year, and all under the atmospheric Beaver Moon! 🌕
“Let us remember.”
The centrepiece of this long overdue return of mine to Glasgow was this: “Small Acts of Love”, a new play by Frances Poet with music from @rickyaross, marking the re-opening of the wonderfully refurbished @citizenstheatre…

I could have kept on contributing to this thread of favourite score by Mark Snow for The X-Files, but made myself stop! 🛸🎹
And that’s even before I get started on his score for Millennium which is exquisite, not least for this, another iconic theme 🐍

Both of Mark Snow’s movie scores are superb throughout, but how the music heightens the high drama of this scene comes immediately to mind, too 🛸🎹

“Scully’s Serenade” is another highlight, so evocative of her emotional pain at moments such as this, with Mulder missing 🛸🎹

So many to choose from, but this scene from I Want to Believe it is the heart of what the film is about, and Mark Snow’s score elevates it to another level of beauty and resonance—as he so often did 🛸 🎹

And I celebrated the album’s release by breaking down on a (but not the) Great Western Road. 😐 There’s a metaphor in there for where my life is at, I’ m sure. Here’s hoping for a better visit to *the* Great Western Road later this year!
Listening to #ShrinktheBox analysing Chandler Bing and reflecting on the potential of the late, great Matthew Perry in other roles, look no further than the superb but sadly short-lived "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip", still a personal favourite of mine. youtu.be/kiNMPivR7eo
My favourite telling of the #RobinHood legend and one of my favourite series, Richard Carpenter’s #RobinofSherwood is still compelling viewing, 40 years on. Great writing, fabulous cast, and that @ClannadMusic soundtrack 🏹 #NothingIsEverForgotten

A radical, urgent, intense reinvention of Ibsen for our current moment, with Matt Smith on barnstorming form, charismatically commanding not just the stage but the entire theatre! See this, if you possibly can. 🎭🎤🎨
During our Minute 9 discussion of @TheXFiles "I Want to Believe" with @ajblackwriter, we delve deeply into X-Files merch and I reference my mug collection! It turns out that I had downplayed its full extent, as pictured here!
