2011 was actually the origin of APC.
The SW voted for Jonathan (he won 5/6 states).
And what they did they get in return? Nothing.
No VP, no senate president or deputy senate president, no speaker or deputy speaker, no important minister (the most senior Yoruba minister was… the minister of agriculture). They didn’t even get SGF, and the defence minister was a junior minister under Hailiru Mohammed.
The only substantive appointment was as chief of Defence staff, which was (or should be) a non-political appointment.
Of the 12 top positions in the country, Yorubas held none.
Worse still, there was absolutely zero hope that the trend wouldn’t continue in a Jonathan second term, or even in a world after Jonathan.
That’s why SW politicians decided to deal with Buhari where they were certain of a stronger stake.

Binance Alpha volume remains massive!
Even during these difficult times, Binance Alpha is seeing huge trading volume. There is still no major panic among Binance users.
Hopefully, Alpha listings and Binance Spot listings will resume soon, Inshallah.
Withdrawals will return to normal as well. We just need a little more time and patience.

My elder brother Paul, the launch of the South-East Gas project has nothing to do with the 2027 elections. Over a year ago in Anambra, Mr President made a promise and acted on it. In fact, the gas project has been one of the anchor projects of the South-East Development Commission since its inception. To take it a bit further, in the 2023 Renewed Hope manifesto, stimulating the growth of industrial hubs, particularly in the South-East, was a core objective.
I believe you will agree that this project will herald a new era of industrial renaissance in the South-East, being a commercial and industrial hub itself.
There is a clear timeline for delivery. Projects of this magnitude are done in phases, with mobilisation and coordinated workfronts starting this year, building of backbone, branches and customer connections in 2027, and by the second quarter of 2028, first gas is piped.
I understand your alarm. It seems surreal that this project, which the region has clamoured for for decades, is finally coming to fruition.
Yes, I understand your surprise. Under your former party, where you tarried for years and to whom the South-East gave their votes overwhelmingly, there was nothing to show for their loyalty in 16 years. Absolutely nothing.
I also know abandoned projects are something you and your candidate are very familiar with. But not under the Tinubu administration.
Let's set aside politics and celebrate this beautiful development in the South-East.
The Tinubu administration’s announcement of a proposed $100 million South-East gas project, with the 2027 elections approaching, invites legitimate questions about timing, funding and delivery.
Reports indicate that construction is scheduled to begin in Q1 2027, with first gas projected for Q2 2028. Nigerians deserve a clear account of funding secured, outstanding approvals and enforceable milestones.
If the administration is serious about industrialisation, let it also demonstrate measurable progress on the Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Akokwa–Arondizuogu–Okigwe Road. Move from approvals and announcements to completed infrastructure.
Factories need affordable gas. They also need roads to move raw materials and finished goods.
The proximity of an election makes transparency more necessary. Publish the financing arrangements, delivery timetable and regular progress reports.
Infrastructure is a public responsibility, not a political favour. The measure of performance is gas delivered, roads completed and jobs created—not applause at a hotel ceremony.

I spoke with a Gen Z doctor today who graduated from LASUCOM. I told him that LASUCOM is one of the educational legacies of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Asiwaju established the Lagos State College of Medicine in 1999 and upgraded General Hospital Ikeja to a teaching hospital. He also ensured the College obtained all necessary accreditations by 2005.
The college has produced over 1400 healthcare professionals, and it remains the number 1 state-owned college of medicine in Nigeria. Of course, he didn't know...
