Cultural Sunday: The Halloween Full-Size Candy Bar Challenge 🎃
We gave out full-size candy bars on Halloween this year with two tough choices. Kids could pick one, but many were having a genuinely hard time deciding.
One kid offered us twenty push-ups for both... and I agreed that was quite the "trick."
"Twenty push-ups and you can have both," I said, "but it has to be legit."
He took it, and others looking on asked for the same chance - I said sure! A lot of them took it, girls included.
Before long, a crowd of parents, neighbors, and other trick-or-treaters gathered around, cheering the kids on. We gave the girls a little grace, but the boys had to seal the deal with one perfect final push-up before getting that second bar. We were firm. They already had one to walk away with, and it showed the other kids we meant it.
Some struggled. Some flew through all twenty. Some nearly gave up until the crowd started counting and encouraging them. Once one kid finished, the next wanted to prove he could do it too.
It became one of the most popular stops in the neighborhood.
We started the night with 300 full-size candy bars and had five left when we packed up.
The candy was fun, but it turned into a totally impromptu neighborhood event. Kids pushed themselves, strangers cheered for them, parents laughed, and everyone stayed a little longer than they planned. Some decided to bring their chairs, hang out and watch.
Next year, we are going to need more candy bars and an official judge!

Night baptisms were put on hold this week after the light in a local church’s baptismal font failed. A search committee was formed. It found the brightest water in the county in Chief’s backyard.
The deacons arrived at dusk with towels, robes and a clipboard titled “Revised Baptism Schedule.”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa,” said Chief. “You don’t need to do that. And don’t replace your light. Float one of these.”
He then gave a 14-minute briefing on solar charge cycles, IP68 ratings and slow-dissolve trichlor. The committee took notes. One deacon asked whether it came in more colors. It does: seven.
The church has since tabled its $400 light-replacement budget item and redirected the funds to coffee.

All of the signals are lining up and my gut told me to tell you all this.
Please make sure you have atleast 10 days of food and water for emergency. Non perishables.
Should the lights go out between November and December, do not panic, remember I told you it's gonna be okay. Operations underway.
There will possibly be a short power outage, i don't see it being long because people will freeze in this weather, but initially necessary for a scare event, blackout of the media, internet in the name of "Cyber attacks" (it's preplanned, you are safe)
If i am wrong with this timing so be it, but if i am right atleast you are prepared.
You need to be prepared for emergencies anyways.
