Yet in our very before, the proliferation of hijab and niqab is happening. Young Yoruba Muslims are getting radicalised. We think it can never happen until it happens. I've been speaking on this for years. We're sleep walking into the arabisation of Yoruba culture.

You can't openly worship like this in parts of Yorubaland today. Yet ours is the biggest black religion on earth. We're idiots man. Honestly.
Profound. Cuba is really a world of its own.

See this one, you reason like boli. Kmt.
You are a joke. I remember you saying that girls wearing hijabs during the Igbo-Ora Twin Festival are extremists.

It's important that Western culture continues to be the dominant global culture, not Chinese or any other culture.

Imagine slaughtering a person because they have a different opinion about a book you both believe in. Imagine rationalising this death, asking while his body is still warm and wet from his own blood, why he does not believe in the traditions you believe in. There are many terrorists in that hellhole called Nigeria. The terrorists that are easy to identify are those with guns. But by far the larger number are the cowards, who hide behind those with guns and knives and throw questions to the bodies lying lifeless on the floor. How dare you not believe in Hadith they say to the dead, bleeding body. If only you did not say those things. I would not kill you myself but why did you go and get yourself killed they say. And those cowards, they are everywhere, in politics, in academia, in the civil service, in journalism, posing as normal human beings.

The Izala (JIBWIS) elders are trying to claim that the boy with the terrorist chant (Umar Ibrahim Gandi) isn't one of them. They're trying to insinuate that he was probably sent to "spy" on them. All these are not true. The boy is an active Izala member of Zamfara. He isn't a beginner either. He's one of their shining youth star. Go through his Tiktok page here and you'll see: tiktok.com/@umar.ibrahim.gan…

The way Islam is practised has hardened so much. I know it's easy to point the finger at northerners because it's obvious AF there. But what's going on in the SW should concern Yoruba people. The extremism is quieter but it is growing.

Saw a post on IG about things that can be done in Lagos to make society inclusive for Muslims and lot of the things complained about are available up North. I remember a conversation I had with Offa boy in March this year when I told him that being in Kano felt like I had relocated from Nigeria to an Islamic state. There is so much consciousness. Practically everywhere has accommodation for prayer and wudu, there are so many mosques, and there is more consideration for Islamic dressing. I saw secondary school girls wearing niqab to school, even. Even the timing of events and break periods, factor in prayer times but it is not the same in the South. Of course, I frown against discriminatory practices and policies, especially those that affect the rights of Muslims to go to school, work and live in peace and harmony. Nobody should have to suffer discrimination for practising their religion but some of us need stop whining that you went to a mall and couldn’t find a secluded place to perform ablution and pray. There is a difference between being discriminated against and being in an environment where the infrastructure and facilities you want are not readily available. You would have to adjust or move up North if having that kind of environment is important to you. I was in Delta State for two weeks, and the only time I heard the adhan was when I went to the mosque but in Lagos, I hear the adhan at least five times a day. My point is that we cannot demand to be allowed to live our ordinary lives without scrutiny and discrimination because Nigeria is a secular state, and at the same time, demand special concessions for ourselves. It doesn’t work that way. Not every part of the country will offer the same experience and we shouldn’t treat every inconvenience as discrimination 🤷🏽‍♀️
