AI agents are starting to do our shopping. Soon they'll be paying each other for services too. Those payments are small, constant and cross-border, with no person at the checkout to approve them. Card rails were built on the opposite assumption. So we joined @Agnic_AI Agentic Commerce Pioneers hackathon as a Diamond Sponsor with our own track. Teams had ten days to ship working prototypes, not slide decks: AI agents paying in Bitcoin on the base layer, free for the payer, no banks in between. Demo Day wrapped in Toronto. GoBTC Pay is built by GoMining, which means the payment rails sit on top of a real mining operation rather than borrowed infrastructure.

An AI agent bought the biscotti. The humans ate them. That was our live challenge at the Agentic Commerce Workshop in Toronto 🇨🇦: Could an AI agent discover what we needed, act within the user’s permission, complete the payment and turn a simple request into a real-world purchase? Thank you to everyone who joined us, asked difficult questions, tested the experience and shared their ideas. We hope you enjoyed the biscotti. We certainly enjoyed showing how they got there 🙂 This was more than a demo. It was a small glimpse of what happens when AI agents move from recommending things to actually completing transactions. That’s a wrap from the Blockchain Futurist Conference. And huge kudos to Tomilola for putting together this brilliant recap video.

My co-founder at Agnic.AI sat down with @TheStreet at the @Futurist_conf in Toronto today, and they briefly discussed Agentic Commerce.
Yesterday, we said hello to Toronto 🇨🇦! Today, the conversations got serious. Our CEO sat down with TheStreet at the Blockchain Futurist Conference to discuss what it will really take for people to let AI agents transact on their behalf. The biggest challenge is not payment. It is trust. Who is the agent? What has the user authorised it to do? How much can it spend? And how can we prove it did exactly what was requested? That is the infrastructure we are building at Agnic: identity, permission, payment and checkout - so AI agents can make real-world purchases without being given unlimited control. At the conference today? Come and meet the team. And join our Agentic Commerce Workshop at 3:00 PM in the Purple Room, where we’ll move beyond the theory and show what agent-powered transactions can look like in practice. See you there, Toronto 🇨🇦

🎥 The most quotable 55 seconds of AI Pioneers Demo Day came from our fireside chat with Pradeep N., AI Product Leader at Moneris. Babu Nair sat him down and the conversation went straight past the hype and into what actually makes agentic AI work. Three lines stood out: 🔷 On looking beyond the model: "Whenever we talk about agentic AI, a lot of the focus is on the models we build. But the model is only one part of the equation. The entire harness around that model — observability, evaluation frameworks, guardrails — is equally important." 🔷 On building trust from day one: "We need trust as the foundation layer, where we as humans can truly trust what the AI is doing. That trust will only come from baking governance principles into the technology right from day one." 🔷 On what the ecosystem needs to survive: "Developers need to think of not just the feature sets that enable the 'art of the possible,' but the guardrails that ensure safe, authentic, and authorized transactions. That is what will ultimately enable this entire ecosystem to exist." That last line is the whole game 🔥 The agent economy isn't won by the flashiest demo — it's won by whoever makes agents trustworthy enough to hand real money. Huge thanks to Pradeep for the reality check.

🎥 At AI Pioneers Demo Day, we asked Layial El-Hadi, Executive Director of Fintech Cadence, what Canada's fintech ecosystem needs most right now. Her answer: "More entrepreneurs coming from industry." "Builders who understand how financial institutions work, who have experienced the challenges firsthand, and who are motivated to solve real problems they've seen every day." "That's exactly the kind of innovation we hope to encourage through AI Pioneers and the agentic commerce ecosystem: practical solutions built by people who deeply understand the industries they serve."
