Tomorrow will be my last day at Google after 27 years, and watching it grow from 25 people to 190,000+ has been an amazing journey. Below is a note I shared with many people internally at Google today. An excerpt is: It has been an absolute pleasure to work with you and to help build some of the most widely used and impactful products of all time. As a kid, I dreamed of helping build software that would be used by many people, and Google now has thirteen products used by more than a billion people (amazing!). Our work has had a tremendous impact in the world, and I have been lucky enough to collaborate and form friendships with many colleagues that I deeply admire, respect, and enjoy. It still brings me joy every time I see people out in the world using our products to find information, handle email, translate documents, watch videos, learn new things, navigate and understand the physical world, browse the web, use their phone, run large-scale computations on our infrastructure, ride in an autonomous vehicle, or perform complex tasks with the help of our AI systems. I hope you all share this sense of joy, because it is a shared accomplishment! Thank you to all of my colleagues at Google over many years! Now I'm excited to go start @DiscoLoopAI with my longtime friends and colleagues @Sanjay_Ghemawat, @OriolVinyalsML, and @quocleix. (Updated post: slightly redacted to not have some personal info)

Deeply shocking to read this official US statement, which contains absolutely no expression of regret or condolence for the loss of innocent Indian lives. How can a “friend” and strategic partner be so deeply insensitive? Why couldn’t a non-compliant commercial vessel have been stopped using other, non-lethal means? Is it not possible to disable a ship's propulsion or steering without firing missiles targeted to kill civilian crew members? Practically every merchant ship navigating these crucial waters has Indian crew on board. Are they all considered fair game for US missiles now? This approach is unacceptable and I hope @DrSJaishankar had said so to @marcorubio.

Dear @AnthropicAI, I've been subscribed to your highest level plan since the day you started accepting credit cards. I've finally cancelled my subscription.
We’re rolling out new weekly rate limits for Claude Pro and Max in late August. We estimate they’ll apply to less than 5% of subscribers based on current usage.

Humble brag…They won’t believe a little girl from Kenya built the orchestration engine for this, but I did!
Google right now has ~1 million (H100 equivalent) Ironwood v7 TPUs and 500K H100 GPUs online. With 400-600K NVIDIA Blackwell (GB200 NVL72 racks) GPUs incoming. So total compute capacity = 2 million H100 equivalents by end of year. They will spend $85 billion in 2025 (raised from $75 billion forecast) DeepMind CEO @demishassabis said yesterday: “We are scaling to the MAX our current capabilities. We are still seeing fantastic progress on each different version of Gemini.” Gemini is training on these TPUs rn

Today, we at @OpenAI achieved a milestone that many considered years away: gold medal-level performance on the 2025 IMO with a general reasoning LLM—under the same time limits as humans, without tools. As remarkable as that sounds, it’s even more significant than the headline 🧵
1/N I’m excited to share that our latest @OpenAI experimental reasoning LLM has achieved a longstanding grand challenge in AI: gold medal-level performance on the world’s most prestigious math competition—the International Math Olympiad (IMO).

DRDO has also achieved a lot, but for that you need to be able to read and understand what they do. For that you need to bother reading their releases and most importantly understand the nuance there. A lot of their work isn't public either.

I'm looking forward to @elonmusk's comments on Chinese politics, his views on Chinese leaders, and his opinions on who should actually be running China. Elon, you've done Europe, Canada, Japan, and elsewhere: tell us what you think about Chinese politics today. Please.

Words fall short of capturing the profound privilege we experienced when @Gurudev graced our studio for Howie Mandel Does Stuff. Yet, we’ll do our best to convey the magic. The honorable Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's deep connection to music and its transformative power on the mind, body, and soul set the stage for a truly freeform avant-garde jam with Sunny and The Black Pack and @howiemandel . This was not a traditional jam session in the way most might imagine. There were no fixed keys, no strict rhythms, and no concern for following conventional musical structures. Instead, it was an exploration of pure, unfiltered expression. Each sound emerged as a reflection of the moment, with the only objective being to create something honest and free. In this video, you’ll witness Gurudev pouring his spirit into the piano, his notes inviting a dialogue where everyone responded in their own unique way to what they heard and felt. It was a remarkable exchange of listening, interpreting, and connecting. A shared experience of communication and, ultimately, simply being. This incredible once-in-a-lifetime musical moment will be cherished and remembered forever. What an honor!!
