Released in 1991, the thirteenth studio album was the first to feature The New Power Generation. Diamonds and Pearls was a commercial success, as it received platnium certification in the US, Canada, UK, Australia and France.

British-American Playwright and novelist #BonnieGreer has died aged 77. Her husband David Hutchins announced her death saying:
โIt is with profound sadness that I announce that my beloved wife, Bonnie Greer, has died aged 77 after a brief illness.
โBonnie was an acclaimed playwright, author, critic, cultural and political commentator whose intelligence, courage and distinctive voice made an enduring contribution to British cultural and public life."
Speaking in 2016 in the aftermath of the Black Lives Matter movement, Greer said: "When I wake up in the morning, I'm just myself. It's only when I leave the door that I become a black woman to the world."
She added: "I tell black women all the time, 'Don't apologise for yourself and keep your hair nappy. Make sure you are heard'."
