"Man geht einmal raus und es passiert nichts, da denkt man schnell, man könne es immer wieder so machen." My good friend and former lab mate @AkramMSalam was profiled by German media. Check out his personal story on the COVID-19 crisis in the US!

This makes my ❤️ so happy! @AkramMSalam (current PhD student) & Faraz Khan (former visiting scholar) connecting in the beautiful mountains of Pakistan. Great science emerges from global collaboration & I’m 😁 to see an emerging network of #QuaveLab trainees engage across the 🌎

Running a super long series of HPLC or LC-MS runs? Worried of potential failures or leaks occurring and not knowing immediately? Do what Dr. James Lyles does and stream a live video feed of the systems to your computer! #chemistry #naturalproducts #QuaveLab
My labmate and dear friend Tang Huaqiao has the magic touch - he's super good at getting crystals! This is all from yesterday from one fractionation of an enriched plant extract to produce novel #antibiotic candidates! #PhDChat #chemistry
Yesterday my dear friend @fab_ethnopharm tweeted about a very old German medicinal plant book he acquired. Here I present my book: Man Against Microbe, by Dr. Joseph Bigger (1939). This book, like many past works, is such a pleasure to read. Take a look! #microbiology #phdchat

After searching for quite some time, today I finally bought an antique and original "#Kräuterbuch" from 1903! Fortunately, I can read old German lettering which comes handy. Many forgotten European medicinal plants & its traditional uses are described! #ethnopharmacology #phdchat
The right-sized wrench disappeared. I'd rather buy a new one than ask on a Saturday evening where is could possibly be. But there's a better solution... Now I can change the HPLC column! #phdlife #gradschool

#365DaysOfFieldwork 140/365: I found this macrofungus species mimicking a plant during a field #expedition to #Budongo Forest in 2013. I'm interested in its potential medicinal use in humans & apes. Is there any mycologist who can help identifying the species? Please RT #phdlife
This morning when I arrived to @EmoryUniversity I was greeted by this ethereal scene.
