LASD deputies are already patrolling in radio cars that are old, rundown and badly in need of replacement. Now, keeping those vehicles running is becoming an even bigger concern.
Multiple sources over the last few days have confirmed that LASD did not renew its contract with Centera, the company servicing its fleet countywide, and that the current maintenance arrangement ends Friday.
That’s adding fuel to an already burning dumpster fire. An aging fleet needs consistent maintenance. Any interruption could mean more patrol cars sidelined, fewer vehicles available for deputies and consequences for emergency response.
Sheriff Luna needs to explain: Who will service and repair the fleet after Friday? Is a replacement provider ready to take over, or will there be a gap?
Deputy safety and public safety depend on reliable equipment. What’s the plan @LACoSheriff @LASDHQ
In 2015, I had the privilege of meeting Dolores Huerta and talking with her about her lifelong fight for farmworkers and civil rights. Hearing her speak about organizing firsthand was unforgettable.
Learning of her passing brings a lot of reflection. Her legacy was vast and undeniably complicated—layered even further by the allegations she made against César Chávez late in life, decades after his passing when he could no longer speak to them. History and human movements are rarely simple, and her final years added difficult questions to a legacy already deeply intertwined with his.
Dolores spent nearly a century organizing, fighting for worker dignity, and leaving an indelible mark on American history.
Rest in peace, Dolores.

Here is the latest at LASD: I have received multiple messages and phone calls about a reportedly compromised LT promotional exam. I have the names involved.
Even more disturbing are reports that the department is allowing the comprised exam to be used anyway.
This gives those with the answers an unfair advantage over personnel who put in the time, studied and worked to earn their promotions.
LASD leadership needs to explain how it can justify using a compromised exam to determine promotions.
More details as they come in.

Never underestimate the power of a really good fucking tip. This story is right up there with the MISSING GRENADE COVER-UP by LASD execs and the BUDGET CRISIS leading to a department memo to personnel to BRING YOUR OWN TOILET PAPER TO WORK!

We’re not waiting for them to vote. You’re not allowed to have any noncitizens on your voter rolls. “Period. Full stop.”
It doesn’t matter if some haven’t voted in a prior election.
Stop playing games. Work with us to quickly verify the names we provided and prevent noncitizens from diluting the votes of American citizens.
If you’re so convinced we’re wrong, prove it. We can clear this up in days and give everyone confidence in the upcoming election.
What are you afraid of?

$460,000 in taxpayer money for a … study.
For people who work in the public sector, it could take 3 years salary to make that kind of money. Giving it to a consultant for a study to open a bank run and controlled by the city of Los Angeles. The city doesn’t even know where millions upon millions of our money went that was supposed to help the homeless. Now they want to be in charge of a bank and they want to spend almost a half of million of our money to do a study on it?
1989, as a private, I think my LES said I made about $800 a month. It’s just gross the way our elected “leaders” just throw money away on really ridiculous ideas when we can’t even have operable street lights and most of us can’t afford our water & electric bills.

I’ve lost count of how many PRA requests I’ve submitted to LASD under @LACoSheriff Robert Luna since he took office.
NOT ONE REQUEST HAS BEEN FULFILLED.
NOT ONE.
That includes my request for all communications mentioning my name.
For a sheriff who constantly claims to champion transparency, he sure has a lot of trouble delivering it.
I have the receipts to prove it.
Spot on. The very people hiding behind double standards, incompetence, and secrets are always the first to scream 'defamation' to protect themselves—yet they have zero issue letting others get dragged through the mud by the press with baseless rumors. Pure cowardice.
Rules for thee, but not for me. When public officials face legitimate scrutiny, they immediately resort to intimidation and defamation threats to silence critics. Meanwhile, they're perfectly fine watching everyone else get buried by leaks and media hit pieces. The double standard is blatant.

We need this man back in office as Sheriff of LA County or there will be no sheriff’s department left if Robert Luna is re-elected. We need him GONE!
GRIM UPDATE: working conditions in @LASDHQ patrol stations have deteriorated under Robert Luna’s failed leadership, jeopardizing public safety everywhere.

An alleged tattoo list is now being used to frame the size of LASD “deputy gangs.” Where is the evidence connecting the people counted to misconduct?
LA Public Press’s latest story cites 271 current and former employees with admitted or suspected tattoos, based on a former lieutenant’s description of an internal investigative report.
*The publication acknowledges it has not obtained that report.*
Yet a subheading describes a list of nearly 300 “deputy gang members.”
That is a significant leap.
And here’s some context:
As I reported in The Current Report in March, the Office of Inspector General’s February 26, 2026 report stated that, to its knowledge, LASD had not identified any group qualifying as a law enforcement gang under Penal Code §13670.
That describes a failure to identify qualifying groups - and it absolutely matters when assessing claims about hundreds of alleged members.
California’s law requires a pattern of on-duty misconduct to establish a law enforcement gang. A tattoo alone does not satisfy that definition. Even the OIG said they don’t have a problem with station tattoos at a @lacountybos meeting earlier this year.
Release the report. Reconcile the numbers.
Identify the misconduct and show the evidence. If it’s substantiated, they should be held accountable.
Accountability also includes the newsroom reporting unsubstantiated information as fact.

EXCLUSIVE INVESTIGATION: THE WEINGART MONEY TRAIL - WHAT DID THEY KNOW, AND WHO IS PROFITING?
Millions in taxpayer dollars. A homeless housing project still unfinished. A prolonged asbestos cleanup approaching $2 MILLION. And serious questions about contractors, financial relationships and accountability.
Documents obtained by The Current Report reveal that Weingart had an environmental assessment identifying asbestos at its 3340 Shelby Drive property dating back to SEPTEMBER 2023.
Yet subsequent requests for additional time reportedly characterized asbestos remediation as “unexpected.”
UNEXPECTED? THEY KNEW ABOUT THE ASBESTOS IN 2023!
And that's just the beginning.
*South Coast AQMD produced only three asbestos notifications covering work through June 2025, despite reports that additional contractors continued remediation afterward.
*Questions have emerged about potential connections between contractors and individuals associated with Weingart.
*Separate financial records show payments to a security contractor skyrocketing from approximately $525,000 to $7.5 MILLION IN A SINGLE FISCAL YEAR, raising additional questions about vendor relationships and financial oversight.
Meanwhile, the housing that taxpayers were promised remains unfinished.
WHO IS BENEFITING FROM THESE DELAYS? WHO IS WATCHING THE MONEY? AND WHY ARE PUBLICLY FUNDED PROJECTS OPERATING UNDER SUCH QUESTIONABLE CIRCUMSTANCES?
The documents raise serious questions that deserve answers.
When organizations receive millions in public funding to address homelessness, transparency isn't optional. Neither is accountability.
The homeless are still waiting for housing. The contractors are still getting paid. And the public deserves to know why.
