The @AlPurdyA_Frame is flying! Repairs to the foundation (maybe don't build on a floodplain next time, Al?) are underway.
It will be back on the ground soon enough, and the call for applications for 2025/26 residencies is now open: alpurdy.ca/residency/

“For me, the vast marvel is to be alive. For man, or for flowers or beast or bird, the supreme triumph is to be most vividly and perfectly alive.” – Canadian poet Al Purdy. Born in #Ontario, Al is considered one of the greatest poets in Canada ♥️🇨🇦

Whoa! Brand new Canadian poetry prize announced, "The Al and Eurithe Purdy Poetry Prize."
Funded by Eurithe Purdy, it will award $10,000 annually for a poetry book published in the last two years. No submission process or fee. First winner announced April 24th.
10 years ago, a bunch of book lovers came to the rescue of Al and Eurithe Purdy's legendary A-frame home in Ameliasburgh, Ontario, which was on the verge of being demolished.
Now it is threatened once again, by a decaying foundation, which needs repairs costing $300k. Fundraising has stalled at $140,000 so Eurithe Purdy, 98, has offered to match any new donations up to $10,000.
The offer expires on November 10, Eurithe's 99th birthday. A lot of folks are donating $99, and every dollar helps. It's easy, just clink on this secure link to Canada Helps: alpurdy.ca/donate/?fbclid=Iw…
