My Welsh grandparents used to keep my sister and I happy with bottles of pop (from the pop man’s van), walks in nature, putting my grandfather’s white hair in bunches (patiently borne) and generally the incredible warmth of being in the small home (cobwebby outside toilet for many years) of two people who gave us such unconditional love. How rich we felt in their love. I hate the John Lewis advert - ugly, materialistic, totally not getting the magic of grandparents. @JohnLewisRetail

My Grandma had nothing she could hardly pay her rent but sitting down with her and my grandad with a custard tart and a tea watching the wrestling on a Saturday afternoon is my happiest memories. I hate what we have become.

Featuring a knitted soldier sitting alongside his faithful dog, surrounded by hundreds of red poppies. 🌺 This touching tribute is the incredible work of Syston Knitting Banxy. A wonderful way to honour and remember those who served and sacrificed so much. ❤️ We will remember them. 🌺
