Wow! It now costs more than $50K annually to attend some public US colleges even for locals! All in California so far, but "Flagship state schools in Colorado, CT, Ill, Mich, NJ, Pa, & Va have all posted prices over $40K for in-state students for at least some...programs!"

JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon mocks The Economist during a tense exchange after being told he’s sounding like Trump: “I’m not Trumpian. I’m factual.” 🇺🇸
Interviewer: “You’re sounding Trumpy.”
Jamie Dimon: “I’m not Trumpian. I’m factual. I don’t agree with this binary shit that goes on all the time.
I think The Economist is the absolute best, most admirable thing in the world, and you should continue that.”
Dimon delivers the last line with apparent sarcasm, poking fun at the publication while pushing back against the idea that agreeing with Trump on certain issues makes him a Trump supporter.
.@Greg_Ip's largely right: "The link between tariffs and inflation is...hardly obvious to the naked eye." They became "politically toxic less because of their actual effect than how, and when [during a time of still high recent cumulative inflation], they were imposed."
Ignore @DanwWang's silly fretting that the Trump admin & Arizona might stop welcoming Taiwan tech workers & focus on this key point: "It’s not an accident that [US] companies lost their leadership in various manufacturing sectors as they started shifting production overseas."
DHS says that the man found by police vandalizing the Iwo Jima statue near the US Marine Corps base is not only an illegal alien but was granted "Dreamer" status by Obama and Biden.

Germany's Audi (reporters' words) hopes that its new announced plans to build its first US auto manufacturing facility "will yield potential relief from tariffs that have severely eroded profits." Just the latest example that tariffs work.

Someone who thinks that it's bupkis - and a complete coincidence? - that the US during Trump 2.0 is now gaining manufacturing jobs for the first time since the short, sharp pandemic recovery from a shorter, sharper pandemic downturn. SMH
Replying to @JosephPolitano
extend Oren's chart back even a few years and tell me if you think the correct baseline is "the tariffs worked because we didn't lose 350k manufacturing jobs!"
.@ANewman_forward, @YelingT & co-author repeat the (widespread) canard that "The United States’ efforts to hamstring Chinese technology firms...led China to accelerate its technological development...." Even tho China has sought the greatest possible self-reliance for decades.
ICYMI, my new RealityChek post details why a recent
@Courtenay_Brown piece for @axios on US manufacturing and her response to my criticism here were so thoroughly bizarre. PS: To her credit, I lost the bet I made at the end.
