A win for transparency! This week a judge ruled the City of El Monte must hand over secondary employment records of El Monte police officers who are employed outside the police force. FAC represented @investigate_la in this public records act case. investigatela.org/2026/10/08…

Under AB 1821, getting public records would cost more and take even longer. Perhaps worst of all, it would allow government agencies to sue members of the public if the agency deems their request to be made with “malicious intent.”

How do journalists get ahold of government documents for investigative stories? @RivCoRecord journalist Daniel Eduardo Hernandez worked with us to document FAC’s Watchdog Workshop with KVCR in San Bernardino last month and help answer that question.

What is the San Diego Police hiding? SDPD refuses to release bodycam footage of their role in ICE operations. We’re representing Kate Morrissey of @daylightsdnews to get the truth. The public deserves to know what police in their community are doing. ⬇️ firstamendmentcoalition.org/…
Honestly, I need Anne Hathaway to release a full Mother Mary album and the go on tour. The movie was superb but the music truly gave it wings. I’d literally buy tickets to all the shows. @A24 please make it happen, we need the diva on tour.

"Now that it’s undisputed that no charges will be filed, the city’s weak argument for withholding the records is even weaker," Loy tells @Alex_Riggins. ⬇️

Congrats! You’re going to rock it and NBC is adding another stellar journalist to their roster.
Thrilled to start this week as a senior enterprise editor @NBCNews! So excited to join this amazing team and dig in ✨
I love @ladygaga but was incredibly disappointed that the cameraman filming last night blocked her for the ETIRE show. I don’t pay to see the back of some camera equipment. For reference, here is where I sat and what I saw all night. More than $1200 to see a camera 😒

An editor for a newspaper encouraging “removing writing from reporters’ workloads” should just resign

I’m all torn up reading this, from @arizonaagenda. What will the Republic be without the great @maryjpitzl and its columnists. Thinking of all my journalism friends this week at the Republic and elsewhere. And our community.
My friend and former colleague @tjlheureux0 is doing amazing work over at the @phoenixnewtimes. Go check out his work and the awesome reporting coming out of the publication.
