I agree!
You definitely don’t need a new mixer to power your mic. The Cloudlifter CL-1, FetHead, or DM1 Dynamite can be used to boost the signal on your dynamic mics. Much more affordable than a new mixer.
The GoXLR has not been worth purchasing since the company discontinued the mixer and software development. Official support ceased early 2025.
The Rode Streamer X offers much more value. It’s much newer and still supported by Rode (they’re not going anywhere). It offers robust audio routing and control via the Unify app. It also includes a built in HDMI 2.0 capture card and smart pads. Priced very well at ~$224 (time of this post).
If you already have a GoXLR, that’s fine, use it until the wheels fall off. I don’t think buying one at this point is a viable option with all the newer and better options we have currently.
Options:
- Rode Streamer X/Rodecaster Duo/Pro 2
- Elgato Wave XLR Pro
- Beacn Studio
- Mackie Creator DLZ/XS
- Roland Bridge Cast/X
What are your questions?
Hey @TeamYouTube @YouTubeCreators!
Creators dual streaming would like to view their own vertical live streams on their channel page and in the mobile app. Currently, when checking their own channel, they can only see the horizontal format on both desktop and mobile.
Aitum made a mistake: the Vertical Canvas update button gave users the wrong download. It installed Stream Suite, causing your entire OBS layout to change. They have fixed the link. You don’t need to uninstall OBS.
To go back:
• Back up your scene collection first
• Close OBS
• Uninstall Stream Suite
• Download and install Vertical 1.6.6 from Aitum’s site
If you have questions or run into issues, let me know.
Some of you accidentally had stream Suite installed unwillingly in the latest Vertical Update.
We've found the problem button, it was pointing to the wrong URL, and a fix has been released.
As a result, Vertical 1.6.6 is now live to prevent further disaster.
Our deepest apologies for the confusion. We promise, we're not malware! 😭😅
That's the thing about people with disposable income, they can spend it on whatever they want.
There's no viewer requirement for any type of setup. I set up and service Dual PCs for clients who don't create content at all.

YouTube streamers,
Stream in dual format using the vertical stream key so you can fully customize your layout.
If your PC isn’t fully capable of multiple encodings, the auto crop is a fine alternative to keep your setup efficient.
Just dual stream!

There’s no one size fits all “best” settings for OBS or any stream/recording software. Settings depend on specs, specific content, assets, platform, internet, etc. Sure, basic settings can be applied to most setups to get started, but “best” settings are dialed accordingly.
