The unique potential reward would be that, if he wins, he would likely stay and for less $. Chance to get a head coach and possibly quality QB on a discount. Would likely hit the ground with more velocity on fundraising, which combined with the above, could build a roster fast.
Definitely a high ceiling given that it will likely pump the funding.
The risk part comes from the parts of the job that happen after that. A lot of teams out there proving that you can waste your money.
Doesn't mean Philip can't do the job. It's just a ? that will exist.

dabo swinney and james franklin are coaching a game against eachother right now and no one gives a shit what a time to be alive
My guess is it will ultimately be Philip, and Im open minded to it but it's obviously high risk. Think the first priority is establishing process for navigating the financial management of the roster.

No staff treated HS coaches and NC HS Football better the last 14 years than Doeren’s staff at NC State. He and his staff had a great run and should be appreciated/celebrated and not remembered for the finish.

Stanford Loss Highlights Broken Processes for NC State

Last 2 offensive plays where CJ was working Keenan's outside fade into the boundary. Those were two incredible plays on the ball.
Ain't seen much of those chances for Keenan this year for some reason. Game 1, CJ threw 2 outside verticals. One to Locklear and one to Warren.
The preseason semi-hype around this team was always bizarre. Full of holes. Never a contender. Easy schedule was the entire foundation of that stuff it felt like.
A humiliating performance. Stanford scored 7 points or less in 4 of 5 P5 games this year.
It did whatever it wanted on offense.
Stanford is running the ball really effectively, has largely underutilized it, and still moved the ball at will.
Not great.
