People in tech need to read more humanities in general ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ Tech bros think they're well-rounded because they've read some 3rd-hand quotes about stoicism but refuse to actually learn about stuff that would be genuinely helpful to not just continually make tech solutionist rubbish
I just wish people who work in tech would read more books about philosophy of technology and less books about productivity

If I had any wisdom to teach younger devs it would be this: 1. Program against, consider, and handle the error path first and foremost. Include useful logging, telemetry, and error messages. 2. Utilize your type system, whatever that may be, to make as many invalid states unrepresentable If you do this, regardless if youโ€™re using OOP, FP, whatever, youโ€™ll be end up with higher quality software that is easier to maintain and scale

When I say 'AI is a conspiracy theory' I don't just mean that it's based on compulsive pattern finding with a tenuous grounding in reality (it is) but that it fuels political forms that are tricky to pin down but all lean towards the far right in the end.

worth remembering: so often the shiny new thing quickly shows signs of being mostly hype, while the unassuming, homely option proves its staying power
