Consistency does not mean robotic teaching. It means students do not have to win the teacher lottery. A schoolwide literacy commitment should be visible from classroom to classroom. The goal is not sameness for adults; the goal is reliability for students
Another great webinar hosted by @ONlit_social ! So much great info to help guide reading intervention.
Next week, I’ll begin reading intervention at the schools I support. I’ve been reading @JuliaBLindsey book Small Groups, Big Results which offers so many practical suggestions for targeting specific challenges.

Today in grade 1 we completed some syntax and sentence structure activities.
In grade 2 we read The Night Gardener & filled out our Gist Statement chart. ✏️📖

An early morning, long weekend read 📖 Reviewing Chapter 9 from @measuredmom book, “Reach All Readers”, in preparation for this week's collaboration with a new educator—exploring the connection between reading and writing in the classroom.
Our new Yellow Square @SyllaSense books arrived! Many of the kiddos in my intervention group are working at the CVC level, and these books are absolutely perfect for boosting their confidence and building foundational reading skills.

For far too long, we have been looking for that one "magic bullet" that will ensure literacy for all kids. But there is no magic bullet. Learning to read requires integration of ALL of the language systems (phonology, orthography, semantics, syntax, morphology) taught directly and systematically, and aligned throughout the instructional sequence. Let's stop isolating our instruction and work together to INTEGRATE our instruction.
