In the first seven games, Rodgers has targeted Metcalf five times on the Steelers’ first 3rd down. It has yielded two completions, one first down and one fumble. The other two instances were a throwaway where it looked like Metcalf was the first read and a Roman Wilson TD.
Stealing third with two outs is perhaps the most stat-padding “me before the team” thing you can do. I don’t know why it’s had a renaissance these past few years, but 150 years of baseball wisdom and every analytic says it’s a terrible gamble. Took the bat out of Yandy’s hands.
Game 1 is tonight. Some OffBeats I’ve done on the Brewers and Rays:

Could the Pirates actually trade Mitch Keller?
What’s next for Konnor Griffin’s swing? Should they bring Brandon Lowe back? Do they need another left-handed starter?

Bob Friend Pitcher of the Year: Seth Hernandez
Honus Wagner Player of the Year: Murf Gray

Murf Gray isn’t ready to be handed third base.
Derek Diamond probably isn’t breaking camp in the Pirates bullpen.
But @AlexJStumpf says both might be closer to Pittsburgh than you think. northshorenine.com/article/t…

We came all the way to Arizona to watch Pirates prospects and got... rain.
But we're here, so what do we actually want to learn from Wyatt Sanford, Michael Walsh and the rest of the Pirates in the AFL?

The Pirates are announcing their Young Bucs award recipients this week. The first batch are Irwin Ramirez (Rookie-Level Pitcher of the Year), Johan De Los Santos (Rookie-Level Player of the Year) and Cecilio Beltre (Staff Member of the Year).

The Chris Archer trade was awful.
But eight years later, is it still influencing how willing the Pirates are to take a big swing?
The Rays just built another pennant winner largely through trades. @AlexJStumpf says there’s a lesson in there for Pittsburgh. northshorenine.com/article/w…
