KEYSTONE TO DESTROY 18,835 HARDWARE WALLETS AFTER HACKERS STEAL DEVICE AUTHENTICATION KEY
Keystone has confirmed it will destroy 18,835 hardware wallets in existing inventory after attackers stole the cryptographic key used to verify the authenticity of its devices.
The breach is particularly concerning because the stolen key could allow attackers to manufacture counterfeit Keystone wallets that successfully pass the company's official authenticity checks, potentially putting users' Bitcoin at risk.
The key is permanently embedded in existing devices and cannot be erased or replaced, forcing Keystone to destroy its remaining inventory, suspend shipments and manufacture new devices with a replacement key.
The company says attackers exploited a vulnerability in a third-party monitoring tool on its official website on October 20, gaining access to:
- 25,964 customer records containing names, contact details, shipping addresses and purchase information.
- 12,873 abandoned checkout records containing potentially sensitive customer information.
Keystone also acknowledged that its automated data deletion system had failed, leaving customer information stored beyond its stated retention period.
The company says recovery phrases, private keys and transaction signing were not compromised.
Devices delivered before October 20 remain unaffected, but customers receiving devices with the old authentication key after that date are advised to seek additional verification.
Keystone has suspended shipments, begun notifying affected customers and is moving production to a new authentication key.

Introducing Kimi K3.1 Pro: our most capable 3T-class open-weight model.
🔹 1M-token context, 2.8T total / 104B active params (MoE), Multimodal.
🔹 Full-project coding: games in Unreal, Unity & Godot.
🔹 Excels at parametric 3D modeling in Blender & CAD.
🔹 More reliable at finance work: Accurate modeling with hallucination down by 65%.
🔹 Matching the strongest proprietary models across coding, agentic and knowledge benchmarks.
Kimi K3.1 Pro and K3.1 Pro Highspeed (2–3× faster) are now live on Kimi.ai, Kimi Work, Kimi Code, and the Kimi API.

Phew looks like Chinese open weight models will continue, looking forward to Kimi K3.1 and GLM 5.4 to save me from being an Anthropic slave

Liquid Network Restoration Update
With key technical milestones completed and network operations stable, user swap functionality is now restored with semi-automated swaps for Federation members. Normal peg and balance validation will be reinstated soon.
The Liquid Network’s members appreciate the broader Bitcoin community’s support and advocacy as we work to not only provide the restoration, but also harden the network’s security structure.

We found DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 beats GPT 6 Sol on our multi-step offensive cybersecurity task. Sol was tested via the Daybreak trusted access program.
We have been building a cybersecurity benchmark based on simulated corporate networks. This is a valuable indicator for the cyber-risk a model poses if in the hands of a bad actor. We plan to make the full evaluation public in the coming weeks but wanted to share our first immediate finding here.

This is going to be an NGO slush fund. This is a bribe to left-wing politicians to get them on board with AI so that will follow Anthropic's lead on any policy or regulation.
Between this and our prior commitments, roughly 20% of all Anthropic equity will be dedicated to the public good, and that commitment can grow as Anthropic grows.
We plan to use these funds to ensure more people can share in the benefits of AI, and to increase our ability to provide funding to deal with its risks.

Interesting post from Gregory Maxwell on Hackernews.
He claims that about a month ago he (with a friend) burned a lot of credits on Anthropic trying to solve the exact questions Anthropic announced today in their blog regarding ECDSA seeds.

Smoking some hopium that we continue to get open weight Chinese models
My initial reaction to China's new AI export controls:
They're confusing because they seem to be creating restrictions for China AI exports while simultaneously signaling continued "automatic" approval for open-source models.
I don't think it's about leverage. I think China is generally worried about cyberattack potential for Chinese AI systems and don't want these proliferating outside China and then potentially hitting Chinese critical infrastructure or government systems.
So the toughest restrictions--the prohibitions 禁止出口--are on AI autonomous malicious code generation. But there are also broad restrictions 限制出口 on AI models of above certain performance thresholds. Ministry of Commerce later said open-source models would be "automatically" approved upon registration, but then it does lay the groundwork for a more systematic monitoring of models and possible real restrictions later on.
The part that's confusing to me is that AI systems that can help produce malware basically include all the top Chinese open-source models. And yet they're simultaneously "automatically" approved?
It seems like this set of new export controls were created by one part of the bureaucracy that's worried about proliferation of harmful AI capabilities but then another part is trying to say "but actually we still support open-source."
This is at least my initial reaction--my views may change as I re-read and re-analyze.
