Something very huge and important to the game mode happened in March, and it's clear it affected the game for the rest of the year
=\
I used to work on this team! They are amazing people, with too much work on their plates, while I totally understand the criticism at Epic for this decision, remember the devs are trying their best to give yall what they can <3 be kind, and stay silly <3

The economics behind AAA layoffs:
AAA originally meant the highest credit rating: low risk of default.
In games, the term should mean a proven, relatively low-risk investment with strong returns. FIFA, Madden and CoD fit that model.
A $400M budget doesn't make a game AAA

I hope you all support the absolute beejeebus out of @stagetourgame. I hope that support opens them to be a broader and more inclusive (not just rock) music game.
In the meantime, I look forward to the absolute mountain of music content that will come with GTA VI Online.

BioWare has always inspired us, and it's hard to say goodbye to our idols. Thank you for everything, @BioWare. Many of us wouldnโt be in the games industry without your legacy.

from what iโve seen the last ten years itโs way simpler than that. when you only needed to make a moderate amount over cost it was okay to sell a moderate amount. now capitalists are involved, consolidation happened, more layers of middle management, everything costs way more and game price hasnโt scaled with inflation. a $10m gamble is acceptable, 10 titles, itโs ok if one or two fail, one will pay for them all. this doesnโt work when $100m is cheap
delโs โthe death of the middleโ have a better explanation of the effect.

The first game a game studio makes is usually the most time-consuming, and game a studio ever makes. But it could also be the investment that makes the next 3 games possible at a fraction of the development effort. That shit can't happen if you layoff your team after a launch.

you don't want anything that happens after that

AI gamedev discourse?
Try playtests.
Never underestimate the human ability to fuckup your design.

I just think game producers should be allowed to delete one random file a day to keep teams on their toes
Crazy I know! How dare I and other actual game developers hope to ever have such an impossible dream!
Certainly no one else could possible expect or hope that our industry progress forward and become better for the workers inside it????
That's just fucking insane isnt it?!?!?
Seeing articles talk about Epic and what they are doing with AI as a "Case Study"... My friends that still work there don't deserve to be treated like guinea pigs or lab rats.
They make one of the best games in the world, they deserve stable employment, solid income, and respect
