The Trump administration has gutted AHRQ -- a small agency at HHS tasked with overseeing care delivery -- and won't say how it's redirecting grant $$ Congress gave it. One nugget: Some researchers got letters signed by staffers fired 9 months earlier. washingtonsun.com/health/ins…

I think folks aren't quite getting the scale of this late GOTV spending from Maga Inc. It has only been spending for about a week on Facebook/Instagram. Yet it is already the largest spender in last 90 days. Our story from a few days ago as it began: nytimes.com/2026/10/20/us/po…

How 'corruption' became a defining issue of the 2026 campaign -- arguably for the first time in 20 years. Both parties are focusing relentlessly on it cuz voters now make a connection between perceived corruption and rising costs w/ @ec_schneider washingtonsun.com/campaigns/…

Zach Lahn re-registered to vote in Iowa in Oct 2024 — just in time to qualify to run for governor in 2026. Lahn cast an Iowa ballot in 2024. But previously unreported voting records show he requested it be mailed to him — in Kansas. W/ @bethreinhard nytimes.com/2026/10/25/us/po…

The longtime Republican mayor of the city where Vivek Ramaswamy kicked off his bus tour today shook his head when I approached him at the event and asked about the ad featuring Acton's estranged mother. "I would have never done that. Never." nbcnews.com/politics/2026-el…

Voters in Ohio and Michigan kept telling me they were dropping off their ballots in person or voting in person when I was there weekend before last. I found the same in Iowa. Read my story on this very phenomenon out today in @washingtonsun: washingtonsun.com/campaigns/…
Democrats have been more likely than Republicans to cast their votes by absentee or mail-in ballot. 📬 But a smaller share of Democratic voters plan to vote this way this year – specifically the share who plan to return a ballot via the USPS. #MailInBallots #VoteByMail

I’m not yet convinced Jackson is losing any votes on this, but it does seem to be the one moment from all 4 debates that reached informational escape velocity. “Can’t eat road salt” a distant second.

We stand behind our story. Prior to publishing, we asked the State Department, in writing, to respond to allegations that “employees are being directly asked who they voted for in 2016, 2020 and 2024 before they receive promotions, and are told directly that if they have any history of donating to Democrats that they will not be eligible for the role.” The State Department did not in any way deny that those incidents occurred. Instead, it said that the department values “fidelity,” that it “will not tolerate . . . people using their positions to actively undermine the duly elected President’s objectives,” and that it prioritizes “merit and reward[s] demonstrated performance on behalf of Administration priorities.” After the story was published – and after members of Congress raised concerns based on the story – the State Department gave additional comment denying the “premise” of our reporting. We published this after-the-fact statement in full. And since publishing, we have heard from additional sources familiar with top State officials asking foreign service officers about their voting and political contribution histories.

the fact that Daniel J Sullivan's registration isn't noted, and that Dan. S Sullivan is listed as the incumbent is a break for the senator and a source of controversy among some in Alaska. you can look at an old sample ballot from '22 -- Murkowski wasn't listed as an incumbent ballotpedia.org/United_State…
This is how the candidates are listed on Alaska's ballots. It's clearly marked, which one is the GOP candidate and which one is just a guy

More than 150 ads centered on Epstein have aired nationwide during the 2026 election cycle, according to a review by The Washington Sun. They began playing primarily in “toss up” districts and states across the country but increasingly are being deployed in states and districts that Trump won two years ago, often by wide margins. from @avanidkalra washingtonsun.com/campaigns/…
