Then they added chores, fees, ratings, and awkward social rules.
Airbnb guests became āhouseguestsā: strip the bed, take out the trash, follow the chore list, pay a huge cleaning feeāand still get rated by the host.
Thatās not hospitality. Itās a sleepover at your auntās house.
People want a simple transaction:
I pay.
You provide a clean room.
I stay.
Done.
Hotels understood this a century ago.
The same goes for ride-sharing. Itās convenient, especially where taxis are scarce. But customers donāt want to worry about talking too loudly, choosing the wrong radio station, or violating a driverās unwritten rules.
The future of travel isnāt Airbnb or ride-sharing disappearing. Itās the services that keep the flexibility and convenienceāwithout turning every trip into a maze of fees, chores, ratings, and social anxiety.
