Breast cancer awareness! 🎀💖🫶
DigPINK 🎀 VS KC CHIEFS ❤️💛 🏈 Today, I had the opportunity to attend the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Chargers game. Trust me, that was a tempting invitation to accept. But instead, I'll be spending my afternoon and evening with 250 young women volleyball players from five Olathe high schools at their Dig Pink event. When I was first asked to speak, I hesitated. The Dig Pink program begins at 6:00 p.m., and kickoff is at 3:45 p.m. There was simply no way to make it to both. As a lifelong Chiefs fan, I had some serious thinking to do. But after further consideration, the choice became clear. 𝐅𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬. 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞. These student-athletes are raising money for the Side-Out Foundation, which funds research and support efforts focused on metastatic breast cancer, the stage of breast cancer responsible for nearly all breast cancer deaths. I'm honored to share the stage with 𝘾𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙮 𝙈𝙞𝙩𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙣, an elementary music teacher at Indian Creek Elementary and an inspiring metastatic breast cancer thriver. Together, we'll have the opportunity to speak about the impact of this disease and the importance of continuing to fund research that gives hope to patients and families. Tonight is about more than volleyball 🏐. It's about education, awareness, compassion, and empowering young women to make a real difference in the lives of others. So right up until the event begins, I'll be cheering on my beloved KC Chiefs. But when it's time to take the stage, I'll be dressed in pink, with a Chiefs pin on my lapel right next to my "I Am a Survivor" pin. And honestly, I can't think of a better place to be if I’m not at the 🏟️. I hope you'll join me in supporting these incredible young women as they raise funds for this important cause. Their leadership, generosity, and commitment to helping others are exactly the kind of victories worth celebrating [along with the KC Chiefs!]. 💗🏐🏈 #DigPink #SideOutFoundation #MetastaticBreastCancer #FiveHighSchoolsOneCause #BreastCancerAwareness #ChiefsKingdom #Survivor #AlisonsAllies #OlatheSchools

🌟 Young People Making a Difference! When most high school students were sleeping in on a Saturday morning, Adelyn Benton and Maeve Haney of Olathe East High School were already hard at work at the Alison's Allies Walk. Armed with cameras and enthusiasm, they spent the morning capturing smiles, team photos, celebrations, and the spirit of the event from start to finish. Their photographs will help preserve memories and share the impact of our mission long after the walk is over.   Special thanks to Dr. Tes Mehring, a dedicated Alison's Allies team member since 2010, for assisting these talented young photographers throughout the morning.   Every picture tells a story, and these images help tell the story of a community coming together to support breast cancer research and provide life-saving breast cancer screening opportunities for underserved women. Thank you, Adelyn, Maeve, and Tes, for helping us capture the moments that matter most! 📷💗   📷 Small Acts. Big Ripple. One of the smallest acts at the Alison's Allies Walk can create one of the biggest ripples.   #AlisonsAllies #VolunteerAppreciation #OlatheEast #SmallActsBigRipple #OlatheEastHighSchool

I recently had the privilege of attending a recognition event honoring the Kansas Masonic Foundation and the Cinelli Family Foundation for their extraordinary commitment to expanding access to cancer care. 🚌 HOPE on Wheels is a 42-foot mobile cancer screening unit operated by the Masonic Cancer Alliance in partnership with The University of Kansas Cancer Center. 💙 The Kansas Masonic Foundation funded the purchase of the unit through a nearly $1 million donation. 🚀 The Cinelli Family Foundation is providing the operational support needed to keep "HOPE on Wheels" serving communities across the region. 🌾 Launched in Spring 2026, this mobile unit delivers: ✅ Free cancer screenings 🎀 Mammography services 🩺 Exam spaces and phlebotomy stations 📚 Health outreach, prevention, & education 🫶Its mission is simple but powerful: eliminate geographic barriers to early cancer detection for rural and underserved communities throughout Kansas & western Missouri. 🗣️ As Dr. Roy Jensen said: “This mobile medical unit is more than a cancer screening clinic on wheels. As its name says, it's hope on wheels, delivering access and the power of early detection … ” 👏 Thank you to the Kansas Masonic Foundation & the Cinelli Family Foundation, for making this life-changing initiative possible. 👏 And thank you KU Cancer Center, KU Health System, and the Masonic Cancer Alliance for your vision in making this happen! When philanthropy, healthcare, and community leadership come together, lives are changed. @AlisonsAllies #CommunityImpact #Kansas #MasonicCancerAlliance #KUCancerCenter #CinelliFamilyFoundation #KansasMasonicFoundation #HOPEonWheels #CancerAwareness #Kansas #CommunityImpact #EarlyDetection #HealthcareForAll 💙🎗️🚌

Very special. 💖🫶🎀
🌟 Today, I had the honor of signing the ceremonial beam at the KU Cancer Center (KUCC) as KU prepares to top off the final floor of the incredible new cancer center building. As a cancer survivor 💖, this moment holds special meaning for me. I received my treatment at the KU Cancer Center (KUCC) under the exceptional care of my oncologist, Dr. Priyanka Sharma & the entire team! KUCC was my 2nd opinion. I made the right choice. ✨Standing there today, I was reminded of the hope, healing, and innovation that this center represents for so many patients and families. ✨ The KU Cancer Center is inviting our community to leave its mark on this historic milestone by signing the beam before it is placed atop the building. This new facility will serve patients, families, researchers, and caregivers for generations to come. ✨Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey and continues to support the fight against cancer. ♋️🫶 #KUCancerCenter #CancerSurvivor #BuildingHope #CancerCare #KUCancerCenter

Early detection saves lives!
Cancer screening saves lives. Thank you to The Courier-Tribune for helping us deliver this message. A recent @JAMANetworkOpen study suggests that nearly 18 million women ages 45–64 are due for at least one recommended breast, cervical, or colorectal cancer screening. That equates to so many missed opportunities to detect cancer early—when treatment is often most effective and outcomes can be significantly improved. If you're due for a screening test, please don't put it off. Staying up to date with recommended screening guidelines can help detect cancer before symptoms appear, giving you the best chance for successful treatment. Talk with your primary or specialty care provider about which screenings are right for you based on your age, personal health history, and risk factors. Your screening appointment could make all the difference. #CancerPrevention #CancerScreening #BreastCancerAwareness #CervicalCancer #ColorectalCancer #EarlyDetection #PreventiveCare #WomensHealth #ScreeningCanSaveLives
