Tim Sweeney is taking another shot at Steam.
The Epic Games CEO claims Valve has “held gaming back for years” by locking PC games into Steamworks’ ecosystem.
Sweeney argues that Steam’s social features make it harder for players on PC to communicate cross-platform while also criticizing Steam’s 30% cut.
However, that claim isn’t completely accurate. Valve’s Steam Datagram Relay can also be used across other platforms.

Epic Games is changing its Unreal Engine and MetaHuman EULA to allow AI training on content created with its tools.
Tim Sweeney confirmed that Epic currently restricts AI training on Unreal Engine and MetaHuman outputs, but the company is working to remove that restriction.
Developers will still be able to decide whether AI training is allowed for their individual games.
“Does Epic restrict AI training on outputs of Unreal Engine and MetaHuman? Yes currently but we are working to remove this restriction from EULA terms.”
