Happy Halloween! During this festive time, it’s important to be aware of cultural appropriation. Dressing up as #NativeAmericans or other races or ethnicities is not respectful. #Native culture is not a costume. Learn more from this handout from @OKCPS: bit.ly/3gR74QB
ALT Photo of seven Indigenous children wearing Native American regalia next to a red background with white text reading “We don’t call our (Native American) dance outfits—costumes. Costumes are put on to become something you are not. When we put on our regalia or dance outfits, we are putting on these items because that’s who we are. Cortney Yarholar, OKCPS Native American Parent and Volunteer”

On this Indigenous Peoples Day, I’m thankful for shows like Rez Dogs, Rutherford Falls, and Spirit Rangers. I grew up in the Pocahontas/Dances with Wolves era and I’m so thankful that we are creating totally different media for our children 🪶

Shout out to @AlphaChapterPIs, @apio_eta & @thetaqueenbees for getting their #GG19 reports in early!

Tomorrow’s the extended #GG19 deadline & we’re still missing delegates from a couple of chapters. Please don’t let yours be one of them!

ICYMI: PI Ball & #GG19 have separate registration deadlines. Buying a ticket for one doesn't get you a ticket to the other. For the former, deadline is 7/5 & there's a hard cap on tickets. For the latter, cutoff is tomorrow & there are still plenty of seats.

You asked, we listened! #GG19 registration extended to 6/15.

ICYMI: PI Ball tickets are available until 7/5. Tomorrow’s registration deadline is for #GG19 only — think workshops, service project & business meeting.
