Something funny happened in court yesterday. A guy who was standing trial for armed robbery that happened in 2020 in Lagos Island was listed again for murder that took place in 2022 in Sabo Yaba. Everybody in court was confused, including the judge whether it’s possible for the same person to have committed the two offences.
Mind you, the alleged murder took place in Yaba while he was in prison. So it was just impossible for him to be the one who committed murder. But the name was the same inside the information sheet and has his passport. They asked the guy, did you kill anybody in 2022? He said no. He was only arrested for Armed robbery in Lagos Island.
See, if they explain Nigeria to you and you understand it, you are a genius.
You may leave your house as Chinedu Lateef Musa, but upon arrest for an offence you did not commit, your name may inadvertently change to SOMEONE ABRAHAM EPHRAIM by PEOPLE who have vowed that you will never come out of prison.
Whenever your people set out to look for you in the custodial centres, they are constantly told that "THERE IS NO SUCH PERSON HERE. PLEASE, CHECK OTHER CUSTODY CENTRES (PRISONS)".
You people will search and search for you, but to no avail.
That is how we are in this country.

All three contestants for the position of the President of the Nigerian Bar Association are very competent. I have had in-depth discussions with all three of them in Lagos and Abuja.
However, I am most convinced that Chukwuka Ikwuazom SAN is the most prepared to lead the Bar for the following reasons:
1. @ChukaIkwuazom has shown workings in competence as the Chairman of the @NbaLagos. His administration led to a very high participation in the branch activities due to the high quality KSS sessions and welfare schemes he introduced.
2. Chuka Ikwuazom is a Partner at @Aluko_Oyebode, one of the top three Law Firms in Nigeria. He doesn't tolerate nonsense especially when it comes to the welfare of young lawyers. Someone who doesn't pay peanuts would not hide under the umbrella of "salaries are contractual issues" to justify poor remuneration of young lawyers. He would implement a value-based approach to addressing the issue.
3. Chuka Ikwuazom SAN is active in both the transactional and dispute resolution sectors. As a tax expert, he knows the challenges faced by transactional lawyers. As a SAN, he knows what's up with our courts. He's going to bring a hands-on approach to solving problems across practice sectors.
4. Chuka Ikwuazom surrounds himself with smart people. You can't work at a Big Law Firm and not have Big Law energy. Chuka knows how to spot talents and identify hardworking people to join his team. This is why some contestants today even have a portfolio to boast about. Chuka doesn't care for quantity, but for premium quality.
5. There's very little personal gain for Chuka as NBA President- he's already at the top of his career, works at one of the biggest law firms, earns a shitload of money, doesn't need the NBA to get top deals. Why is he contesting for the Presidency? He is contesting because he has identified challenges at the Bar and is very eager to solve these challenges as his contribution to the society.
Therefore, my learned friends, it is for the foregoing reasons and many more that I urge you to kindly support Chukwuka Ikwuazom SAN as the next President of the Nigerian Bar Association. Thank you.

My childhood friend and classmate Nonso Ukaegbu. Unfortunately he slumped and died last year in his workplace. I couldn't attend his burial and I still feel bad of not attending the burial. I hope he's well in the Spirit world

If it were to be now that Pilate condemned Jesus to death after making a finding that no fault is attributable to him, one lawyer would have filed a Notice of Appeal and you would have seen something like this "The learned trial Pilate erred in law...."

Please if you live in Nigeria,
Before you believe any genotype or blood group result, kindly ensure you do the test in at least 2 places - INCLUDING one government teaching hospital and one ‘reputable’ private laboratory.
I have seen relationships ruined due to fake genotype results. I have seen children’s lives destroyed due to wrong genotype of parents. I have seen marriages threatened and wrecked over wrong genotype problems.
Do NOT be quick to assume repeated “malaria” is equal to AA. Do NOT make this mistake- it can be very costly.
Don’t get me wrong. People with AA genotype are prone to having more malaria infections compared to AS or SC or SS. Sometimes the reason you have repeated malaria is because you have terrible drainage in front of your house which breeds mosquitoes repeatedly and you never use mosquito nets or insecticides before you sleep. This is possibly why you get a lot of malaria infections- not that you are AA.
Anyway pls don’t just assume you are AA without elaborate testing at two reputable medical centers including one government teaching hospital and one reputable medical laboratory.
You should get the exact same result from the two places if it is done rightly and appropriately. IF you do your genotype test and one place is telling you one thing and the other place is telling you something else, FIRST check where the tests were done. IF you know it was done at one substandard place, please go and repeat it in a proper standard reputable medical centre. And then double check the result from there by doing it in one more other reputable centre.
Most likely, IF you do your genotype in two reputable medical centers, you will get the same result. This is your true genotype.
Now in the rare exceptional circumstance, where you have done the genotype in two reputable centres and you get different results, pls go to a specialist hospital and ask to speak with a haematologist (this is a specialist who expertly handles genotype problems). They will resolve the issue for you.
I am sorry but I have to admit this. There are a lot of unchecked quack “labs” in Nigeria giving people wrong, fake and misleading blood group and genotype results.
People have lost the love of their lives because some quack lab somewhere told them they are AS when they are actually AA (so they broke up with their AS partner not knowing they are infact AA).
And equally, some people have married someone they should not have married because one lab told them they are AA when they are actually AS. (and the other person too is AS).
I really hope this little writeup will help someone somewhere do that genotype test today and know exactly where you stand. Kindly repost and retweet to help someone out there.
Pls share your stories or any one you know who has been a victim of fake genotype results as well.
