Just got the final master of my new album and hot damn it sounds good. I may not be able to network well in Silicon Valley, but I make some damn fine music and that’s what matters the most. Music first. Always the music. The real ones know!
One of the reasons people are so cruel to me is because I don’t know how to mimic others. I’ve never felt the desire to do it and am unable to do it when it has been asked of me.
Not collectivist enough for tech. No reason to assume this will ever sort itself out unless someone will vouch for me. I’m just providing free content. Not having a voucher destroyed every goal I ever had for my career.
The reason your company has bad taste is that you've confused class recognition with cultural sophistication. Your "storytellers" know how to perform creativity for executives. Actual artists know how to create something new.
Bring back effort. Incentivize people to show effort in their craft again. Make effort important. Ignore low-effort work. Dismiss it immediately. Effort is good, actually.
The real test of someone’s energy is whether they want to unleash potential or contain it. People oriented toward growth feel fundamentally different from people who have made restriction their reason for existing.
Wish I was making this up, but the people who ripped my phrasing and colors turned out to be people who dressed up like maids to teach linear algebra. Is this like OnlyFans for kawaii? Why does this stuff even exist? Do I need to blame my Gen X loves for popularizing Discordia?
Since the tech doors were shut, I ranted to a date who turned out to be a “burn down the data centers” freak. Way too radical for me, but I wasn’t on payroll so I told him about the Storyteller thing.
“What’s that?” he asked me.
“ASMR for skynet?”
I couldn’t stop laughing.
Oh! Halloween is almost here. I run a gothic clothing line so stock up.

The goal of Unsigned is to create a parallel economy to the social credit system that Silicon Valley is turning into.
If this resonastes with you, email me at [email protected].
The original before the Bushwick transplants was Unsigned, a platform at the intersection of technology and culture.
Unsigned helps new talent get discovered while helping employers hire the best talent outside the social grid.
It’s my answer to @eriktorenberg’s @cosign.
As recently as a few months ago I’d say to have a positive attitude in order to make things better for yourself professionally. No matter what is going on, keep positive. That was my motto. Yet I did that and things got worse.
Then they got even worse than that.
Everyone outside of San Francisco seems to have accepted this, which is ironic because San Francisco is supposed to be the autism capital of the world. So why are they still in the larp that everyone else has exited?
I may be sperging out and angry San Francisco people are diluting my niche, yet I’ve given up on being accepted by decision-makers in tech. I simply find the concept of needing to make your company an inside joke offensive to founders. Deeply offensive and degrading.
Here’s an unpopular opinion. We don’t need anymore inside jokes. We need real people doing real things.
Why did they have to use my colors too? I get that “technology and culture” isn’t exclusively my domain but my colors? All to get some inside joke funded?
Everything has to be an inside joke. Everything has to be cute. Everything has to be mindful. Quirky but not too eccentric. Odd but not too out there. The perfect harmony of performative effortlessness.
Turns out the doomer apocalypse everyone was talking about was *checks notes* a new group of people from San Francisco moving to Bushwick.
