Magnífico. Ciencia económica versus ocurrencias
Replying to @IdafeMartin

Najdorf massacre! At the 1955 Gothenburg Interzonal, Najdorf, Panno, and Pilnik played the same prepared line in the Sicilian Najdorf against Keres, Geller, and Spassky. Three boards, the same opening, and three disasters for Argentina! According to Geller’s account in the Soviet tournament book, he was the first to play 11.Nxe6! Keres and Spassky were still calculating the sacrifice, while Najdorf and Pilnik watched his game against Panno. Then Najdorf approached Geller and said: “Your game is lost; we have analysed everything.” Keres and Spassky also played the sacrifice. After 13.Bb5!!, shown in the first diagram, the games finally diverged: Panno chose 13...Ne5, while Najdorf and Pilnik played 13...Kg7. All three lost! The other three diagrams show the final positions of Keres–Najdorf, Geller–Panno and Spassky–Pilnik, in that order. Imagine preparing an opening together, trusting it enough to play it on three boards simultaneously, and watching everything collapse. Fascinating times! Today, it’s hard to imagine three world-class players suffering the same disaster in a jointly prepared line. Engines have eliminated this possibility. Thanks for sharing this, GM Matamoros! Replay all three games: Keres–Najdorf, 1–0 chessever.com/games/70e664c1… Geller–Panno, 1–0 chessever.com/games/1f8bdb9c… Spassky–Pilnik, 1–0 chessever.com/games/3dae04be… Source: Soviet tournament book annotations, translated by Douglas Griffin: dgriffinchess.wordpress.com/…

Melenchon's whole platform boils down to ''We need to cause an even worse version of the Eurozone Crisis to evade making the most mild pension reforms''
French Presidential Candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon: They tell us, "We must reassure the markets." Reassure the markets? What are their names? Where do they live? Let me go and reassure them! What market? What are you talking about? There is no market. There are hedge funds, financial companies and insurance companies.

It’s so jarring (sadly) to see a world leader understand economics, supply and demand. We don’t have anyone in the west that can give such a “two sides of the same coin” speech.

We’ve turned recycling into a moral ritual instead of a cost‑effective environmental tool. Denmark now has 10 trash categories, but chasing arbitrary target rates means spending nearly €4,000 per ton of CO₂ avoided—50x the EU carbon price. Recycle what is worth recycling. Then throw away the idea that more recycling is always better. My new op-ed: wsj.com/opinion/most-recycli…
