Hi everyone! I'm Amber Smith, proud mom, founder of Evolving in Education (@evolvinginedu), diver, welder, pilot, and underwater bridge inspector.
After years building in construction, I launched this nonprofit to reimagine education: empowering educators, students, and communities with innovative, holistic learning that prepares kids for the real world.
Here's me building bridges. Same grit I bring to shaping brighter futures through education.
Excited to connect and make an impact! #EvolvingInEducation
river turns the stone
shaping it relentlessly
smoothing grain by grain
without force
without haste
until what once resisted is reshaped
by the quiet persistence of its flow
perhaps that is how we change, too. not all at once
but through the quiet, relentless work of becoming.
70–90% of child sexual abuse goes unreported to authorities.
CDC estimates show at least 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 20 boys experience it (some studies put boys nearer 1 in 13). Global meta-analyses find roughly 20% of women and 15–17% of men report some form of childhood sexual violence.
Do the math on just the U.S. figures.
In a group of 100 children (50 girls, 50 boys):
- About 12–13 girls will experience CSA.
- About 2–4 boys will.
That’s 15 or more children in every hundred.
If 70–90% of those cases are never reported to authorities, then for every child who reaches official systems, several more remain invisible, still living with the harm, still at risk, still unseen by the very systems meant to protect them.
These are not abstract percentages. They are classrooms, neighborhoods, families, and futures. Most abuse is committed by someone the child knows and trusts. Most children stay silent out of fear, shame, confusion, or loyalty. Many only speak years later, if ever.
The prevalence numbers already come from people who eventually disclosed in surveys. The unreported figure shows how many never reach help while it can still change their trajectory.
Protecting children is not only about reacting after the fact. It is about noticing, believing, creating safe spaces to speak, and refusing to treat silence as proof that nothing is wrong. Every unreported case is a child carrying something alone that was never theirs to carry.
The numbers are high enough that nearly everyone knows someone affected, whether they realize it or not. Awareness is the first step toward fewer children having to live those statistics.
US CDC estimates: at least 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 20 boys experience CSA (rates vary by study/definition; some put boys near 1 in 13). Global meta-analyses: ~20% of females and 15-17% of males report any childhood sexual violence.
Most goes unreported to authorities—studies put reporting at 12-30%, so 70-90% average unreported. Disclosure often delayed or never occurs.
This speaks loudly.
Trump shaming Amy Action because she’s a child rape survivor…
While supporting Amy’s mother, and step father who raped her.
Reporter - “Now that you know the back story about Amy Action and her step father…”
“Her step father was indicted for rape…”
“Now that you know all that sir, do you change your mind about the ad?”
Trump - “No…No. It’s a mother speaking badly of her daughter….”
“For me it’s very easy… I Don’t Care.”
Trump just said he didn’t care a woman was raped as a 12 year old child.
The first step toward cruelty is convincing ordinary people that someone else’s suffering matters less than their own comfort. The rest of history depends on how many are willing to believe it.
Calling someone “fair game” to justify exploiting a deeply personal family situation is abhorrent. It's dirty, cruel, corrupt, and morally bankrupt.
There is a difference between criticism and deliberately weaponizing someone's pain. Whatever happened, there are lines decent people should never be willing to cross. Having the power to hurt someone doesn't make it right.
babe wake up, the government has been covering up crimes against children for far too long.
