AFF portfolio company Antheia just secured a conditional loan commitment of up to $80 million from the Department of War’s Office of Strategic Capital to build domestic manufacturing of critical pharmaceutical ingredients.
Here’s why it matters.
The ingredients in essential medicines are part of the industrial base. Too many of them come from supply chains the United States does not control.
Antheia breaks that dependency. Its biosynthesis platform makes these ingredients through engineered biology — on American soil, at scale.
A breakthrough in the lab is not leadership. Capacity in the field is. Getting there takes strategic capital, patient partners, and a government that treats industrial resilience as national security.
