📚 Our History Leads recently gathered to explore instructional strategies to bring into their classrooms and collaborated around a 15-day unit planning framework designed to strengthen lesson development, align with standards, & promote rigor and effective teaching practices.

🍎 CES joined schools across Virginia for the 10th Annual Crunch Heard ’Round the Commonwealth! Students and staff took a big bite out of fresh, VA-grown apples to celebrate Farm to School Week and the connections between local farmers, school nutrition, and our students.

🚌 National School Bus Safety Week is a great time to have a conversation with your child. Ask: ❓ Where should you wait for the bus? ❓ Why is it important to stay where the driver can see you? ❓ What should you do before crossing in front of the bus?

🧡 Our students and staff are wearing ORANGE to show that everyone deserves to feel safe, valued, and included! Kindness starts at home, where children begin learning how to treat others with respect. Those lessons grow when families, schools, and communities work together.

Our students at Amelon Elementary were excited to welcome Senator Creigh Deeds as he spent time reading with three classes! The students enjoyed listening to fall themed pumpkin stories and having a special guest join them for part of their school day. 📖

🛑 RED means STOP. Every time. 🛑 When a school bus stops and activates its flashing red lights and stop arm, motorists approaching from either direction must stop completely. Students are counting on drivers to give them the time and space they need to get to school safely.

🚜🍎 Our schools celebrated Farm to School Month by honoring the local farmers who help keep our students healthy and growing! 🌱 Local partners like Drumheller's Orchard and Saunders Brothers Farm Market generously donated fresh fruits for our students and staff to enjoy.

🍎This special Amherst tradition is happening THIS weekend! 🍎 The Apple Harvest Festival at Amherst County High School runs from October 17th-18th and will have food, vendors, entertainment and lots of apple themed fun! We hope to see you there!

🎉 THE PUCKS HAVE DROPPED! 🎉 The Rise & Shine Attendance Challenge may be over, but the celebration is still rolling! The Rise & Shine Plinko Board made its way to AMS and MMS, where our 6th graders got their chance to drop a puck and see what prize was waiting for them!
