It was an honor to Co-Chair the event with the indefatigable Dr. Michele Kilo as well as plan this auspicious occasion with the incredible Laura Rupp and Amelia Howard. Sincerest gratitude to all of those in attendance, including remarks by Chancellor Mauli Agrawal and Dean @alexnorbash. It’s been so remarkable to see the evolution of the last 55 years of the school of medicine, and it’s so exciting to see what the next 55 years will bring, educating the next generation of prolific physicians and expanding its innovative footprint to serve more patients in all geographic areas, with a servant leader heart always at the forefront, the hallmark of this outstanding institution. #Proud #RoosDo #RooUp

A The Kansas City @Chiefs victory and celebration of the NFL Crucial Catch campaign in collaboration with The University of Kansas Cancer Center and American Cancer Society. The Crucial Catch initiative not only focuses on screening, early detection, and risk reduction, but also places an emphasis on the unequal burden of cancer in under-resourced communities. Since 2009, the initiative has raised more than $35 million, and has also helped patients in our region to ensure access to lifesaving screenings. I was honored to speak at the Pretty in Pink Gala: An Evening of Hope, Healing & Empowerment hosted by The Black Butterfly Foundation. This foundation, spearheaded by Founder and CEO Tracy Brown, raises awareness and supports the community in the fight against lupus and breast cancer. I had a wonderful time meeting those in attendance, including survivors, hearing stories of strength and perseverance, no matter the circumstance. It’s been so incredible to see the #KansasCity area community coming together celebrating, reflecting, and supporting one another in the month of October. #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth 🎀

It was such a moving evening at the @GildasClubKC Hobnobbin’ at the Hobbs (Auction for a Cause) event. The powerful stories heard, including from the Master of Ceremonies, @MattWDAF, who is an incredible inspiration in and of himself, just blew us away, offering hope and perspective to so many. The University of Kansas Cancer Center was also so proud to be in attendance and a continued sponsor of the event. It was amazing to see the Kansas City area come together to raise crucial funding for so many facing cancer, both patients and caregivers. I’m so proud of our community, the board on which I’m honored to serve, and our devoted staff, including our fearless leader/CEO, Megan Hunter, working together to take the organization to new heights to support as many patients and families as possible. #GildasClubKC #Cancer #Care #Hope
