Me, an intellectual (addict): Reflecting on the absurdity and grace of my recovery. Definitely not an expert at life. 😂 Sober af 02/12/18 #xa #AA

✨16 months clean and 100% sober. Still have nightmares Still broken Still baffled by -situations- 😝 Surprised that I can ask for help. Amazed that I can show up. Incredible to love and be loved despite imperfections. 🙏🏼✨ A new life just starting to take shape. #blessed

Weekly or so I dream of drinking, sometimes accidentally, and hiding it and sometimes then deciding I’ve messed it all up anyway so I should just go for it. Then I wake up and feel small and broken.
Almost 4 years clean and sober, around 8 years off of heroin. I honestly don't want to get high and last night I still dreamt of having heroin in my pocket desperate for a moment to shoot it. Do you guys still have using dreams?

Sitting here trying to decide if I should take 3 classes in addition to my full time job in the fall or 2. This is only possible to consider because I’m sober. I can reliably show up for a full time job, school, meetings and service. What is this miracle?! #recovery 🙏🏼✨

“Invisible threads are the strongest ties.” -Nietzsche We forget this so easily in the dazzle of the ongoing hustle to obtain material wealth and objects that give us status. In truth, we’re busted if we’re without someone to share our tiny moments with. #mondaythoughts

Last night I led a meeting and talked about why I don’t like dealing with groups. I want to figure out what every one wants and expects from me and give them that thing. It’s how I win their friendship and love. Pretty sure that behavior has got me into a world of trouble.

I hope that I can one day present myself honestly and humbly without the show and the veils. I hope that somehow people choose to love me as I am. It feels scary. But every time I talk about it, it loses power and I open myself up to receive love. And I didn’t die. 🙏🏼

I’m the last to realize how much and to what degree I’ve changed. I get caught up in the challenge of the moment. I never had a white light sparkling sudden transformation. I do tiny things differently everyday and over time I’ve grown into a new version of myself. #ODAAT

I changed my kitten avatar to a real photo of a real woman, that happens to be me. I don’t need to hide anymore. I’m not ashamed because I’m pretty sure my story could help someone else. #xa #aa

1 year sober Countless lessons learned. A life transformed. The opposite of addiction is not sobriety; it is connection. 🙏🏼 #nevergoingback #aa #xa #recoveryispossible I am a grateful recovering and loved addict alcoholic.

Spent a year mulling over whether I wanted to give up my plan for life & try another way (aka step 3) even though my plan was obviously disastrous. Now, I ask for help and accept it in whatever form it comes in. So far...its working for me. I have faith in this process. 🙏🏼✨

Just ramblin’ around different meetings...found myself at a chip meeting...so I picked this up, put it in my pocket, brought it home, balanced on my bedroom mirror. Nonchalantly the biggest and best most valuable amazing achievement of my life. 🙏🏼✨ #xa #aa #recoveryispossible

I love that I get to talk to people about issues they have with addiction & alcoholism. It’s amazing how being honest & humble helps me feel connected to people. I tell them my story & what worked for me & somehow it makes me feel valuable. Magic✨ #xa #aa #recoveryisworthit

Reread some stuff I wrote for my sponsor when I was working on Step1 a while back. Instantly transported to that feeling of being powerless, out of control, and trapped. My worst day in sobriety is a cake walk compared to my average day for thousands of days in active addiction.

Recently my program has been shifting. Found myself with opportunities to sit back or dip out and sometimes I did. I got sorta kinda lonely and somewhat frustrated and generally anxious. I learned first hand...again...I absolutely need the structure and fellowship to stay sober.

This morning I scheduled my annual physical. This is basic self care. In active addiction, I never did this. I would say I was fine, but really I didn’t have any energy or will. One simple miracle recovery has brought within my reach is high enough self worth for good self care.

Took some time to celebrate how much progress I’ve made. It’s easy keep looking forward and only see where I am falling short of goals...the goalposts are always moving... It’s nice to step back and remember what life was like before. Helps me to appreciate what I have now.

I’ve got about 1yr sober. It’s some time for reflection but real close to my life before sobriety. I remember having less than 30 days & marveling at the guys who had 9 months. If you’re new or just considering getting clean, just know it’s possible. If I can do it so can you. ✨
One addict can best understand and help another addict. Look for a recovering addict. Share your experiences. Go for NA/AA. And you would suddenly realise that God is doing for you what you could not do for yourself. Need someone to talk to, contact @Dr1ven_Ind @An0therAddict

Not every time, but often enough to make me smile, the discussion topic in a meeting swings toward the very idea I am grappling with in my mind. Little signals that I’m on the right path. 🧩🧩 Last night that happened and I’m really grateful for it. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Not feeling alone.

Still incredible to understand others have such a similar experience as I do. We are not alone.
It’s been awhile since I’ve written. I’ve been going through some things. Here’s my first post of 2019. Let me know what you think. #RecoveryPosse #recovery thingsgetbetter.com/finding-…

Took a break from online but got my shit together IRL. Now I work & take care of myself everyday. 🎀 meetings 🎀 meditation 🎀 exercise 🎀 journaling Sobriety is harder than I thought & transformation has come slower than I imagined. But I got 11 months today so Good on me! ✨
