An English Groundhopper in East Flanders

This week's #floodlightfriday photos come from Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace. A crisp night for the ⚽️ v Hoffenheim. A wonderful old school stadium and stunning #floodlights #CPFC

Crystal Palace 1:1 Hoffenheim #EuropaLeague #UEL. A 1st visit to Selhurst Park since an 🇳🇬 #Argyle 🇳🇬 win in 2006. Plenty of yellows & a late red for a Palace. An even later equaliser keeps #CPFC in the hunt for qualification. Fantastic #floodlights & a great old school stadium

Lommel SK v AA Gent 🇧🇪 ##JPL. Not traveling to Lommel for the ⚽️ tonight but I am reminded of my first visit there in 2014. When going for a half-time Bratwurst, I encountered the Holy Onion 🌰 Slicer of Lommel for the 1st time. Is it still there? @LommelSKOff #LOMGNT @KAAGent

AA Gent 4:0 Anderlecht. 🇧🇪 #JPL. After 2 🏆 🏆 defeats in a week, an extraordinary performance from @KAAGent and a decent ⚽️ game with #AAGent destroying #RSCA. Gent remain top of the Pro League and are unbeaten. A full house and a great atmosphere at the Stadio Buffalo #GNTAND

AA Gent v Anderlecht 🇧🇪 #JPL. Two cup defeats this week for #KAAGent so a win needed v Anderlecht. A game under floodlights so the new 2026 light show. #GNTAND #COBW @KAAGent

Romford FC 2:1 Hullbridge Sports 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. Part 2 of my business trip back to London. A visit Mayesbrook Park, the delightful home of @barkingfc. @RomfordFC came from behind to beat @HullbridgeFC in the Essex Senior League. The double 🍔 was a culinary triumph. A cold night in Essex

Stevenage 3:0 Plymouth Argyle 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. A disappointing night & an insipid performance from @Argyle. "It’s not the despair, 🇳🇬 Argyle 🇳🇬 I can take the despair. It’s the hope I can’t stand" (adapted from John Cleese in Clockwise) Another day in a long life of following #Argyle.

Stevenage v Plymouth Argyle 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. The Belgian 🇧🇪 Greens 🇳🇬 East Flemish Plastics Chapter have arrived in London. Finally getting to see my 1st @Argyle ⚽️ of the season and hoping for another 3 points. #PAFC #Argyle #Janners #BelgianGreens

This week's #FloodlightFriday 📸 comes from the Police Sacco Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya 🇰🇪. A 0:0 between @MathareUtd and @APSBOMETFC but impressive #Floodlights in the @Officialfkfpl Sport Pess League.

AA Gent 🇧🇪 1:0 🇩🇰 Aarhus #UECL 🏆. @KAAGent are back in the group stages of the #ConferenceLeague and a late winner from #HyllarionGoore secures 3 points. An 18.45 kick-off is never a good idea in Gent - many fans missed the start. #GNTAGF #COBW

Special #FloodlightFriday photos from the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya 🇰🇪. Unfortunately I will miss the season opener there next Tuesday. Stunning #Floodlights #NyayoNationalStadium

AA Gent 2:1 Standard Liege 🇧🇪. One of the more interesting tactics seen at the Stadio Buffalo. Standard Liege were definitely looking to attack in the 2nd half. #GNTSTA #COBW #AAGent @KAAGent

AA Gent 2:1 Standard Liege 🇧🇪 #JPL. Another win for @KAAGent and yet another goal for 19 year old 🇵🇦 sensation - Josue Vergara. Gent go to top after 7 games unbeaten & with 6 wins. A first evening Flemish stew with fries 🍟 & mayo. Crowds are back up - a title push? #GNTSTA

De Meeuwen 3:1 De Noormannen 🇳🇱. A local derby & 4.7 kms 🚗 between teams from Zoutelande & Westkapelle in Zeeland. Another big win for 🇳🇬 #DeMeeuwen 🇳🇬 in the #KNVB South District . #Zoutelande is famous for the @Blof song, ironically called 🎶 Zoutelande 🎶. A windmill today.

SVOD '22 (II) 0:4 VV Kloetinge (II) 🇳🇱. A trip to Oostkapelle to continue my attempt to visit all grounds in Zeeland. The reserves from 3rd Div @vvkloetinge trounced @svod22 reserves - but the #SportparkDuinhelm is an absolute belter and worth a visit. 21C and perfect ⚽️ weather.

KAA Gent 2:1 Club Brugge 🇧🇪 #JPL. 9/9 pts for @KAAGent and 3rd place. A great week for #KAAGent - a late comeback to beat #Hibs in the #UECL to qualify for the group phase and another late winner v #ClubBrugge to win the #SlagOmVlaanderen. #COBW #BattleOfFlanders #GNTCLU

AA Gent v Club Brugge 🇧🇪 #JPL. A pre-match lunch of Flemish stew with fries 🍟 and mayo. Almost a full house for the Battle of Flanders / Slag om Vlaanderen. #COBW #KAAGent #GNTCLU @KAAGent

VV Veere 0:6 VV de Meeuwen 🇳🇱. The magic 🪄 of the #KNVB District Cup South with 🇳🇬 @vvDeMeeuwen 🇳🇬 from #Zoutelande inflicting a heavy defeat on @vvveere. A great backdrop of the Grote Kerk Veere on the Veerse Meer, a beautiful town in Walcheren.
