USA, South Korean, Philippine, Indian, Pakistan, Botswana, Kenya, DRC, Gabon, Togo, Mauritius, and Malawi did it. I am very sure that there's no harm to elect a first family member basing on an individual’s merit.

1/4 🇺🇬🇮🇷 | PARLIMENTARY DIPLOMACY AT THE HEART OF UGANDA–IRAN RELATIONS:::::::::::::
The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Jacob Marksons Oboth, this morning bid farewell to Iran’s Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Majid Saffar, who was concluding his four-year tour of duty. Their meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and unlocking cooperation opportunities between the two countries. The Speaker thanked the Ambassador for his service and wished him well in his next assignment. #ObothOboth
This is what some of us, as neighbours of Gen. Birungi, have been going through. The only thing I told Hon. Doreen on Women's Day at Kololo was to be patient. Thank you, Gen. @mkainerugaba ❤️🙏
The Mukwanos, Madhvanis, Aga Khans and other families have built generational legacies in businesses, but what a legacy for the Kaguta family! Since Uganda got independence, I'm seeing, G2, G3 & G4 from one family. Congratulations!
In the book betrayed by my Leader, John Kazoora narrates how Gen. Kahinda Otafiire broke concealment rules by snoring. 😂

We survived slave trade, colonialism, smallpox, myopic chefs, Amin, Obote 2, Okellos, six killer diseases, Aids, LRA, cholera, ADF, Somalia civil war, South Sudan civil war, Besigye, Kasese clashes, Ebola & Covid. Who're these fake pastors? We shall survive!

There's a saying that you don't realize what you've been missing until it arrives, and I now believe it. Dr. @RugyendoQuotes 's coming has revolutionized how #ParliamentUG communicates.
WHO: Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Jacob Marksons Oboth has today hosted the Inspector General of Government Lady Justice Aisha Naluzze Batala, her senior team and all committee chairpersons.
WHAT: Presentation of the Inspectorate’s 55th Bi-Annual Performance Report (Jan–Jun 2026), now on the Order Paper for Tuesday, 13 October.
WHEN: Monday, 12 October 2026.
WHERE: Parliament, Kampala.
WHY: Past IG reports were handled late, and Parliament’s recommendations lie “gathering dust.” The Speaker warned that the Inspectorate loses public relevance unless the House acts on its findings. He called corruption “an industry” that outpaces traditional methods. “Corruption is not done in the forest. It’s among us,” he said.
HOW: Speaker @ObothOboth directed the Clerk to have the report laid on table this Tuesday and also send stalled parliamentary recommendations to the IG with full evidence. He proposed deadlines in the Rules of Procedure and urged a funded whistleblower reward line. He also asked the Budget Committee to prioritize filling 168 vacant IG posts.
THE NUMBERS: 1,472 investigations concluded, 177 Leadership Code probes (up from 13), 26 convictions (an 89.7% rate) and 543 projects inspected. Shs5.72bn was recovered of Shs41.59bn ordered, and Shs1.509bn was recommended for Ombudsman complainants.
MPs pressed the IG on value for money and on chasing “small fish.” The IGG’s reply: “No one is untouchable.” Members can take these questions further when the report is laid before the House, tomorrow.
