Many politicians will use the Church is you let them. They want ministers to stop being primarily concerned about shepherding and discipling their congregation and become agents of their political party.
Pastors shouldn’t be shamed into doing the bidding of political actors.
Faithful Christian engagement requires the courage to tell the truth even when doing so costs us approval from our own tribe.
Political tribalism convinces us that the people who disagree with us are not simply wrong, but dangerous, immoral, or unworthy of being heard.

Those who are most eager to loudly demean other people’s culture are usually the most sensitive and most likely to breakdown about their culture being critiqued.
The inability to humbly handle a critique is not strength and authenticity, it’s insecurity.

We claim to stand for justice, but when there’s a controversial case, we assert the innocence or guilt of people based on their identity.
That’s not how justice works, it involves a process not assumptions. We should be asking for a just process not for a preconceived result.
