If this doesn't inspire you to get off your ass and save our democracy, nothing will. In this moment in history, as Trump is systematically destroying the republic, this is the most consequential video y'all are going to see.

39 years ago today, Blackadder II was first screened. It introduced probably the most popular and iconic incarnation of Edmund, absolutely nailed by Rowan Atkinson. Preview in The Radio Times appears below. Where does S2 rank for you? #Blackadder

Ireland awarded a 4-1 victory. England players right to walk off, if racism occurred, but seems an innocent misunderstanding. Ireland coach Graham Gartland said his player called the English lad a muppet - not monkey - for pushing him in the back. Muppet = gobshite = idiot.

Yesterday, after his rally in Iowa, President Trump was heading to the airport when he saw an old woman walking home — in the dark and all alone. “Stop the car, Daquan!” He told his driver. He got out and walked her 2 miles home. No cameras. Just kindness. That’s Trump.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The anecdote is fictional. Trump's Oct. 22 rally was at Sioux Gateway Airport in Sioux City; his schedule shows direct arrival and departure from the site with no such walk. x.com/WHPressPool/st… ktiv.com/2026/10/21/how… desmoinesregister.com/story/news/pol… The photo is AI-generated and unrelated to any real event.

Until 1979, Sweden classified homosexuality as a mental illness. That year, activists took the classification as an illness to its logical extent - Swedes called in too gay to go to work.

Today, Brad Lander, rabbis, and other New Yorkers accompanied Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest. For that, they were detained by the Israeli government.  Harvesting olives is not illegal. The occupation is. I am thankful that Brad has been released. But other New Yorkers remain detained, and they must be released immediately. The same Israeli government detaining them has committed a horrific genocide against Palestinians, killing more than 74,000 people over the last few years alone.  The detention of these New Yorkers must end. The occupation must end. The genocide must end.

It’s probably naive after seeing how #MCFC fans have acted at games since the decision was announced, but I do hope they take the time to read this article. This clearly shows City have no defence for their actions, and that’s with just the information that’s publicly available, the commission will have had access to everything and that’s probably why their statement was so forceful. Senior legal professionals don’t use language like this unless it can be backed up by fact, purely for the reason that it could be used in an appeal, and no judge likes to be overruled on appeal, let alone in a case as high profile as this one. I’m not sure if we should believe the claims about sanctions being leaked, the process has been airtight up to the decision being communicated to both sides, and there’s no incentive for the Premier League to give City any ammunition to attack them with by leaking it now. We have an appeal on the decision, a sanctions hearing, and a probable appeal on the sanctions before we’ll likely see anything happen, that should be by the end of the season, but it probably won’t be any time soon. City really should be suspended as every day they spend competing in the league this season devalues the entire competition, but we really need to start treating them for what they are and stop talking about the appeal as if it’s the second half of the game. They’re guilty, and they deserve everything coming their way.

Now that @AbdulElSayed has been asked to disavow the Muslim Brotherhood because of his mother’s alleged ties to the Muslim Brotherhood before he was born, will we be asking Donald Trump to disavow the Ku Klux Klan because of his father’s alleged ties to the KKK in the 1920s? washingtonpost.com/history/2…

It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically. Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country. Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case. Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve. In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota. The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.
