Some notes on Rice: First off, this Rice team has David Pierce’s no nonsense old school dirt bag feel all over it. Much like at Texas, his team is clean cut, uniform and hungry. They brought a ton of juice Zachary Daigre was the star of the show at the top of the lineup. Long AB’s, stealing bases is just what you want out of the leadoff guy. Hiram Bochachia Jr is a STUD and could win a gold glove this season. Michael Zito is still pushing for playing time. Loved his AB’s tonight Staff did a great job attacking hitters. Really fearless against a formidable lineup.

Wish I could retweet this a million times. Data analysis is a tool that increases your chances of winning, in the same way that signing a 50-HR slugger or 2.50-ERA pitcher increases your chances of winning. Traditional and analytical processes can (and should) work in tandem.
Analytics is information, that’s it. You can both manage the moment and make informed decisions. Those things aren’t at odds w/ each other.

Feels like a good time to quote tweet this. There has been a lot of anti-analytics discourse on social media tonight from people who couldn’t even tell you how analytics are used in baseball today.
I would take anti analytics people more seriously if they actually watched significantly more games than the nerds

Head coach Scott Abell mentioned that he rotated personnel to overcome conditioning concerns that stemmed from practicing inside for part of the summer. He didn't mention Jackson specifically, but the following quote was in reference to QBs/RBs, and perhaps some other positions:
Why wasn’t Jackson the featured back?

Rice used Jackson in the slot for the first three drives, but when that resulted in zero touches, he returned to the backfield. Abell said 10 touches is "right at the minimum" of what they want for Jackson. With that said, Hardeman and Byars have earned themselves a role, too.
