Last week Uganda's consulate in China said our coffee exports to China grew by 224% in one year. Buyers in the Chinese city of Guiyang now want to buy directly from Ugandan exporters, not through middlemen. That is good news, but most of our coffee still leaves the country as raw beans. Someone else roasts it, packs it, puts their brand on it, and sells a cup for many times what the farmer was paid. What these buyers are asking for is different. They want single-origin coffee, where the bag says exactly where it was grown, like Bugisu or Rwenzori, and sometimes which farmers grew it. Customers pay more for coffee with a story they can trust. To sell like that, a farmer group needs simple records: which farms the coffee came from, when it was picked, how it was dried, and who bought it. Most of that is still written in notebooks today, if it is written at all.

Eeh Andy, Okoze otya wano, "A change of geography is no guarantee of wisdom."
Criticism identifies a nation's failures and demands reform. Contempt declares the nation worthless and ridicules its people. Criticise Uganda's corruption, poor leadership and broken institutions without apology. But when every national achievement irritates you and every failure excites you, you have exchanged reason for resentment. The West may have improved their circumstances, but it has not made them superior to those who remained. They are entitled to condemn Uganda's failures. But not entitled to mistake their foreign address for wisdom. A change of geography is no guarantee of wisdom.

'I think it's a mentality thing. It's like do or die. Like, either I win, or none of us do.' Lewis Hamilton: "Before I joined this team, when I was in Mercedes, I watched and witnessed the back-and-forth between Charles and Carlos. Several races where they were battling so much that the person ahead just pulled away, and they had the pace to actually win the race." "It’s one thing when that's happening in fourth and fifth as opposed to first and second, and you lose the win. That's significant. The guy is 28 years old, so I don't think it's an age thing. I think it's a mentality thing. It's like do or die. Like, either I win, or none of us do, and it shouldn't be that. It should be, us having got that one-two, which is still a good feeling." "At Silverstone, I could have gone all kamikaze on him and taken him off and lost us the the win, but instead a one-two was there, and I think we got a one-two, or was it a one-three? I'm happy for the team to have experienced that. I'm hopeful we'll work towards a better place in the future." F1 2026 | Mexico

Talk your talk, Lewis. Let them hear it. 🔥🏎️
Lewis Hamilton after securing his 105th pole position in Formula 1: “I told them on Thursday, I'm built differently. I'm not the same.” “You can't compare me to anybody else, and I know inside me I still got more to give. I still got more in me, and that's why I'm still here, giving it absolutely everything.” #MexicoGP 🇲🇽 #F1

What the EFF did today was nothing short of remarkable! Not only did it hold Tshela Thupa Rallies in all municipalities in South Africa, on the same day, at the same time. It held a massive Tshela Thupa Rally at Orlando Stadium, just 10 minutes away from a sold out Soweto Football Derby at South Africa’s largest stadium, FNB Stadium. We now see why this organisation always targeted by the establishment. The President and Commander in Chief has built a movement with a life of its own, rooted in all corners of South Africa. Sekusele kancane, Fighters. Victory is certain!✊🏿 The Devil is a liar.
