USA’s Antonee Robinson consoles Iran’s Ramin Rezaian after America’s victory. Iran’s regime has tried hard to brainwash its people against the US, but most Americans who’ve been to Iran will tell you it’s among the friendliest places they’ve ever visited.

I have been tracking this for years: the slow erosion of belief in what used to be newsroom objectivity. Excerpt from today's @CJR: It used to be her job to divorce herself from such emotions. That's how newsroom objectivity worked. Now she can flip it around: "let it inform me."

The Standard Model officially welcomes a new member to its particle family with the discovery of the odderon. A type of “glueball”, it consists of 3 gluons - fundamental particles that bind quarks to make things like protons and neutrons. It was first theorized to exist in 1973.

I haven’t checked out this book in particular, but resources like this are a great idea in general. Lots of big journalists have not been to journalism school and besides, new challenges emerge (synthetic media, e.g.).
Recommended weekend read from our @datajournalism team: The free #Verification Handbook, supported by @craignewmark, is full of practical guidelines to debunk rumours and #misinformation. 👇

I'm very sympathetic to the idea that, as a culture, we should emphasize the maintenance of things of collective value that already exist and bring a little more skepticism to disruptive replacements.
"Better respect for maintenance would make for better, and more valuable, innovation." Alex Pang reads "The Innovation Delusion: How Our Obsession with the New Has Disrupted the Work That Matters Most" by Lee Vinsel and Andrew L. Russell. ow.ly/JKWA50CshM4
