I think Ronaldo was the player of the season two times with some distance, 96/97 and 97/98. Whereas Mbappe in 22/23 was toe to toe with Messi and Haaland, and right now he’s toe to toe with Kane (so far). I never thought he was clearly the best player of the season, like Ronaldo.
I’ve always been a bit of an Mbappe sceptic but is there now a compelling argument to put him behind, say, Eusebio or Ronaldo in a list of great players?

Otóż AI okrada wszystkich poprzez ekstraktywizm danych i komercjalizowanie niematerialnych dóbr wspólnych. Polecam poczytać Pasquinelliego 👇 [1/3]

Getting accused of genocide denial every day because of a year-old post where I say that genocide is happening has been like cancellation exposure therapy. I can just say whatever now, I’m free.

Something football twitter struggles with generally, and today will be no exception, is the idea of multiple appropriate outcomes. If any of those players win it, it’s a broadly sensible choice. It doesn’t have to be a robbery if your chosen candidate doesn’t win.

Angsty kids are making hip-hop on their computers, no one cares about punk rock anymore.
Kinda crazy how middle class whites can’t afford homes with garages anymore, so their teenage kids don’t have a free place to make angsty punk rock, so we just don’t get music like this anymore

I’m so disgusted by people hating on Saby. When you hate on Saby, you’re hating on a mother. A mother who is raising her daughter to be a good girl. A mother who despite everything, plays tennis and embraces who she is with pride. She stands as an example of strength for so many.

Number one issue with football discourse: believing that you can „single-handedly” win a trophy without realising it’s a 11 vs 11 game. Not to mention how well-setup tactically Atalanta was against Bayer in this game.
This was how Ademola Lookman Single handedly won the Europa League Against an Unstoppable Leverkusen. Gave Gasperini his first trophy, and that was how he repaid Him. It was Victor Osimhen with Napoli, Now it's Lookman, Italians never change. teapawt.net/IPatrick_Dorgu/status/…

People are expecting Ter Stegen to dive to this shot. I’ve seen a lot of unjust criticism of GKs but at this point it’s getting absurd. Why are GKs criticised for not making a dive in such shots? A late dive without getting near the ball isn’t better than a lack of a dive.
Nothing is beating this lol

Aside from Neymar, another player who suffered due to his image is Figo. In case of Neymar, it’s his antics, the fact that Ligue 1 isnt watched and underperformance in UCL at PSG. As for Figo, he has the “greatest traitor” tag which erased from history how great he was t Barca.

Can’t say I “prefer” anything but people heavily overuse the term objectivity in things that aren’t objective at all. Instead, “intersubjectivity” is a useful term. Also I prefer “unbiased” than “objective”, although we can’t be 100% unbiased, we can at least strive towards 1/2

Being “more unbiased than x” or “less biased”. Whereas “objectivity” is independent of individual subjects, as well as collective agreements and beliefs shared between those subjects.
