4:59AM Break the chains & be free from the chains of alcohol that cut so deeply and the toxic relationships that hurt so badly. - Anonymous 🩸🗡️⛓️‍💥 A few weeks ago I went to my flesh therapist and described to her what was going on with me, getting sober and finally getting through this horrible, never ending divorce (currently at 392 days, still ongoing) and she suggested a bloody dagger laden in symbolism and I agreed… Hell yeah. For this design we settled on a dagger jabbed deeply into my left thigh searching for my femoral artery, a crucial artery that gets blood from the heart to your lower abdonmen, and, if cut properly, will have you bleeding out and dead in no time… Hell yeah. So what does it mean man? Well if I let booze back into my bloodstream or let my soon to be ex wife ever get that close to my heart again, it can surely kill me. The Whole Damn Wu Tang Clan preaches “protect ya neck” but what about “protect your sacred energy and your blood” man? Hell yeah. There are also 7 droplets of blood signifying the s7, or 7 deadly sins, because I am trying to kill off pride (superbia), greed (avaritia), lust (luxuria), envy (invidia), gluttony (gula), wrath (Ira) and sloth (acedia) through my various sobriety programs. No time for those, I have already asked the Universe, my Higher Power (Step 3) to remove them from me which is Step 7 of the 12 Step AA program. Hell yeah. Above the dagger reads the Shakespear quote, slightly modified for some cheeky word play, but included on ALL AA chips - ‘To Thine Own Self Be True.’ The meaning man… ✍️🔏🖊️ Well folks I have to keep me as #1, as Alcoholics Anonymous says, because if you lose yourself, you lose it all… and I almost lost it all. Gone is the beautiful dream home, the ‘perfect family’ (hah!), the glorious days of swimming with my two sons in our backyard pool, BBQ’ing on the weekends… …but it had to all come crashing down, and in dramatic fashion I might add, and I am so grateful it did. 🙏💪 You see I have to look at this divorce from a wider lense and accept this fall from grace as a warning to those who are on the verge of losing it all… but I am grateful for it. Grateful that my former partner secretly took our children out of town and had me served divorce papers on that fateful Friday of September 19th, 2025, knocky knock knock lol 💥💥🚪, because through all the pain, all the loneliness, all the sorrow, all the money lit on a devil’s fire on attorney fees and all my money lost in the “settlement” from a disastrous and cunning Med-Arb debacle, I gained something that is PRICELESS… My sobriety. But bear witness for you are all watching the rebirth of a man who lost his happiness and his damn life to booze, and all the fun derivatives that go along with the bottle addiction, and I feel like I got my damn life back NOW. What a blessing it is. Was it easy? Shit no! And I may have had to ex-communicate a few along the way to protect myself, my sanity, and my sobriety but man… what a sick and twisted miraculous blessing it is. Just like this bloody, flesh twisted dagger man... Hell yeah.  And just like this dagger… which someone stuck into my leg and twisted pretty hard just to make sure it got nice and deep and was searching, grinding towards that critical artery to kill me, I stopped it.  And if I want to drink, all I have to do is look at my left thigh and think about all those horrible, painful feelings I felt… and suddenly the urge and want to drink or use vanishes like a fireman vanishes into the smokey mist after a house fire. Hell yeah.  To conclude, there is a broken chain on the handle to signify my breaking of the psychological chains that used to keep me chained down like a mutilated Notre Dame hunchback or a fantastical beast that is looking for love like a flower slowly losing its pedals as it incrementally  dies… day by day… One day at time. #Recovery #MentalHealth #AA #AlcoholicsAnonymous #OneDayAtATime
