unfortch but also if you go too hard in the other direction its considered esoteric.

something i've noticed about THE DRAMA, OBSESSION, BLUE FILM, EXIT 8, HOKUM, ERUPCJA, & UNDERTONE is a relative incuriosity about characters' lives beyond exposition. very hermetic, these people don't seem to exist outside of the immediate circumstances of the movie they're in.

EXCLUSIVE: More than 35 filmmakers affiliated with Mubi — including Radu Jude, Aki Kaurismäki and Joshua Oppenheimer — have signed a letter urging the distributor to reconsider its relationship with investor Sequoia Capital over its Israeli military ties. "We don’t believe an arthouse film platform can meaningfully support a global community of cinephiles while also partnering with a company invested in murdering Palestinian artists and filmmakers," the letter reads. wp.me/pc8uak-1lG75t
