A quintet of young shore anglers made history last week when they became the first ever under 16 team to fish for Wales at a junior shore angling world championship.
A proud moment and incredible achievement.

Wales Seniors, Ladies, and U16s teams picked up a hat-trick of silver medals at the 2026 SALC Home Nations Shore Championships in Kent.
There was some outstanding fishing across the three matches, with a number of section wins throughout to boot.

Reducing isolation, improving physical and mental health, reaching goals, having fun... what exactly does sport mean to individuals and communities?

As part of our #ValuedVolunteer highlights, we're sharing Roger Prattโs story.
Roger is a Level 2 coach, the Chairman, and one of the founding members of The Pembrokeshire Federation of Angling Coaches.
Since 2007, he has led a group of anglers who want to give young people a chance to experience the sport, including many who might never expect to take part. ๐ฃ
So far in 2025, the Federation has run 31 coaching sessions, reaching 224 young people from a wide range of backgrounds. Many caught their first fish, including young carers, scout groups, pupils with additional learning needs, and a group of Brazilian exchange students.
The Federation also runs coaching in coarse, game and sea fishing, and they have exciting plans for 2026. Weโre looking forward to seeing what this brilliant group does next as they continue opening the door to a new sport for young people.
Roger shows how volunteering can open doors for young people, lift up communities, and inspire a love for the outdoors. Thank you, Roger! ๐ค

Fel rhan o'n huchafbwyntiau gwirfoddolwyr, rydyn niโn rhannu stori Roger Pratt.
Mae Roger yn hyfforddwr Lefel 2, yn Gadeirydd, ac yn un o aelodau sefydlu Ffederasiwn Hyfforddwyr Pysgota Sir Benfro. Ers 2007, mae wedi arwain grลตp o bysgotwyr sydd eisiau rhoi cyfle i bobl ifanc brofi'r gamp, gan gynnwys llawer na fyddent byth yn disgwyl cymryd rhan efallai. ๐ฃ
Hyd yma yn 2025, mae'r Ffederasiwn wedi cynnal 31 o sesiynau hyfforddi, gan gyrraedd 224 o bobl ifanc o ystod eang o gefndiroedd. Daliodd llawer eu pysgodyn cyntaf, gan gynnwys gofalwyr ifanc, grwpiau sgowtiaid, disgyblion ag anghenion dysgu ychwanegol, a grลตp o fyfyrwyr cyfnewid o Frasil.
Mae'r Ffederasiwn hefyd yn cynnal hyfforddiant mewn pysgota bras, pysgota gรชm a physgota mรดr, ac mae ganddyn nhw gynlluniau cyffrous ar gyfer 2026. Rydyn niโn edrych ymlaen at weld beth fydd y grลตp gwych ymaโn ei wneud nesaf wrth iddyn nhw barhau i agor y drws i gamp newydd i bobl ifanc.
Mae Roger yn dangos sut gall gwirfoddoli agor drysau i bobl ifanc, codi cymunedau, ac ysbrydoli hoffter oโr awyr agored. Diolch, Roger! ๐ค
