The EVIL Catholic Church invented All Saints Day so they could invent Halloween so they could distract Christians from the HOLIEST DAY OF THE YEAR: Reformation Day

If your mom dies with a 2.6% mortgage, her bank can tell you to refinance at 7.1% or lose the house My friend heard that 3 weeks after the funeral. Loan officer said "sorry for her loss" and asked for 2 years of W-2s She'd spent those 2 years out of work taking care of her sick mom Her credit score had dropped to 590 by then. 2 other banks denied her, and she got 60 days So she called me, because I'm known for buying inherited houses. The house was worth $330,000, with $265,000 left on the loan. I offered $285,000. She'd have walked away with about $20,000 and no house, and I'd have made about $40,000 Then I asked her to read me what the bank said, and I took my offer back Her mom's payment was $1,201. The new one would've been $1,781. That's $174,000 more over the next 25 years, for the same house Since 1982, federal law has protected transfers of homes to relatives after the owner's death. The bank can't call the mortgage due just because the house was inherited And since 2018, federal rules have required mortgage servicers to treat confirmed successors in interest like borrowers for servicing purposes She didn't need to qualify for a new mortgage just to keep paying the existing one. No new loan, no new interest rate, no 2 years of W-2s Same rate. Same payment. We asked for the successor in interest department, not the refinance desk, and sent this certified mail with the death certificate and the deed: "My mother, [name], died on [date]. I inherited her house at [address] and I live there. I am a successor in interest under 12 CFR 1024.31. Please tell me in writing what else you need to confirm me. I am not applying for a new loan" 5 weeks later her name was on the account at 2.6% You have to prove you're a qualifying successor, and you have to keep making the mortgage payments while they process it. The bank can ask for proof of inheritance. It can't automatically force you to refinance just because your mom died Send this to your siblings before one of you has to make that phone call That loan officer is telling somebody else's kid the same thing today

Never held office before becoming president. Now he's blamed for all of America's problems. By politicians who spent decades messing it up. Time they took some accountability.

Holiness is not a privilege reserved for a few, but a universal vocation that speaks to each of us where we live. This is the hope-filled message of today’s feast: God sees the good that we do not see, knows stories that we do not know, and reaches hearts to which we have no access.

I'm was a well-known squish, back in the blog days. Linked and quoted (not always approvingly) by the NYT, WAPO, LA Times, National Review, Insty, WSJ (but never the local rag, the KC Star). Heck, even Democratic Underground (though usually not approvingly, there). I was against OIF from the beginning, before it became popular to claim that. I am not much changed from those days in my values, though my weltanschauung has certainly morphed in reaction to change. This graphic rings true, though the far-right line is too short, it too has moved in its eponymous direction. Oddly enough, this parallels my journey with the Episcopal Church, as well. Except there, I jumped the Tiber.

Could the apparent apathy of players be they finally figured out their so called sport is one big fake money scheme by the team owners and the leagues in bed with the gambling houses that have infiltrated and not about the real sport at all now?

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow is the first day of Normvember, where I will post three jokes per day and basically try to flood Twitter with old Norm Macdonald jokes for an entire month. I'll be posting all his greatest hits from Weekend Update (and maybe even a few not from Weekend Update too), so enjoy!

Modern Christianity has quietly redefined faith as a feeling. A warmth in your chest. A leap in the dark. Something you experience, not something you know. Thomas Aquinas would reject that definition in a single sentence. In the Summa Theologiae (II-II, q. 1-2), he argues that faith is an act of the intellect, not the emotions. His reasoning is precise: the object of faith is truth, and only the intellect can grasp truth. Emotions can be stirred by truth, but they cannot assent to it. The act works like this: the will commands the intellect to assent to divine truth, and the intellect gives its yes. Faith involves the whole person, but its seat is the mind. And here is the part modern Christians miss most. Aquinas says faith produces certainty that exceeds human science, because it rests on God who cannot deceive or be deceived. A blind leap cannot be certain. A feeling cannot be certain. Only assent grounded in divine authority can. He even insists faith is not irrational. Miracles, fulfilled prophecies, and rational "preambles" show that revelation is credible before you commit to it. You do not check your mind at the door. You submit your mind to a God worth trusting. So the question cuts deep: if your faith is a feeling, what happens when the feeling leaves? Aquinas's answer: it was never faith to begin with.

One of the funniest things about Halloween is watching Protestants condemn it as pagan and demonic while having absolutely no idea what the name even means. Halloween. All Hallows' Eve. The eve of All Saints' Day. Tomorrow, Catholics throughout the world will honor the saints who have gone before us in Christ. What adds to the humor, in a very sad way, is the irony that these same Protestants will happily celebrate Reformation Day instead, commemorating a movement that shattered Western Christian unity and gave rise to centuries of division, thousands of denominations, and contradictory doctrines. Honoring the saints in Heaven? Idolatry. Celebrating the division of Christendom? Glorious. You genuinely cannot make this stuff up.
