Thanks to @AuraRaulo for a really fabulous start to our AMRG workshops yesterday! We got a grand tour of dyadic modelling applied to microbiome data and plenty of code to play with! 馃惌 馃捇
That's a wrap! What an invigorating two days of amazing microbiome science 馃ぉ 馃
A huge thanks to all of our speakers and attendees for making the meeting so enjoyable 馃檹 , and for those interested who missed the meeting you can join us here! amrg.mystrikingly.com/
For our final two sessions of the day we are discussing some important topics in the field, starting with an intro by @ferocious_sloth on DEI in microbiome work (@MicroSocEquity) and how we can be more proactive in building in these considerations as researchers.
Closing our a fabulous day of talks is @AoifeLeonard1, a postdoc at the U of Copenhagen introducing us to the groundbreaking @EHologenome initiative and the benefits of a hologenomic approach 馃寧
Next up we have PhD student @sophieteullet of Montpelier University presenting an investigation of convergent dietary adaptations via the gut microbiome of ant-eating mammals 馃悳 馃構 馃崕
After some engaging discussion with all speakers, we're back on for our last talk session of the meeting! Kicking us off is @webbshasta from U of Calgary with the timely topic of resilience of the microbiome following environmental disturbances in white-faced capuchins 馃悞
Switching it up to an avian system, @sarahfworsley1 will close out our first session of the day with some fascinating work on the relationships between the gut microbiome and host senescence in the Seychelles Warbler 馃惁 鈱涳笍
And now @ScienceGalSal is sharing some insights from her dissertation work into the captive-wild dichotomy and environmental influence on the gut microbiome using ring-tailed lemurs 馃
Giving us even more food for thought on social interactions and the microbiome, next up is @AuraRaulo presenting some neat results on transmission ecology of the microbiome in wild wood mice 馃惌
Carrying on with the rodent theme, next up @HannaBensch will share her work on the microbiome of social mole-rats 馃榿
