🚨 VICTORY: Mink farming is ending in Denmark! 🇩🇰
Denmark was once the world’s top mink fur producer. Today, its government confirmed the EU ban on mink farming will apply in full.
We’ve fought for this for 26 years. Poland banned all fur farming last year. EU, you’re next 🩵
To clarify: this is the EU’s mink ban, not a national ban on all fur farming. In 2025, the EU listed the American mink as an invasive species, banning mink farming from August 2027.
Countries can apply for an exemption to keep farms open. Denmark won’t, so its farms will close.

Right now, @MKorzeniak speaking at @CAREconfEU about how we made the ban on fur farming in Poland happen.
Animal advocacy is often perceived as a left-wing movement but to make changes for animals possible, we need allies from across the political spectrum. Our fur ban campaign in Poland is a case in point.
For the 11th time, we've opened the doors to the Conference on Animal Rights in Europe 💪🏻 Ahead of us are four days of talks, workshops, and connection with animal advocates from around the world.
We kicked things off with our Speed Meetings and Career Fair. The main program starts tomorrow with a keynote by Tobias Leenaert. Over 600 animal advocates will gather to learn and grow together, and help the movement grow stronger.

We’re reminding the European Commission of the promises it made! 🐔
Exactly 5 years ago, on June 30, 2021, the European Commission approved the #EndTheCageAge citizens’ initiative and declared that it would phase out cages for farmed animals across the EU.
The Commission announced at the time that new regulations would be proposed by the end of 2023. Despite this, no proposal has been presented to this day, and millions of animals continue to suffer in cramped cages.
On the fifth anniversary of this promise, we gathered outside the European Commission building, where, together with our #EndTheCageAge coalition partners and Members of the European Parliament, we called on the Commission to take action.
Enough waiting. It’s time to listen to the voice of the people and end the cage age! ✊🏻
5 years ago to the day, the @EUComission announced that it will propose new animal welfare legislation banning cages for farmed animals by the end of 2023.
3 years after this deadline and with a new 2026 deadline fast approaching, the commitment remains unfulfilled. Millions of animals and EU citizens are still waiting.

For years, animal welfare campaigners and abolitionists were thought of as two opposing camps in animal advocacy. The latest @sandcastlesblog essay traces how this started to change.
What happens when advocates drop this false dichotomy? And what should we focus on instead? ⬇️

Meet Julia 👋 She joined Anima International as a Campaigner while still working on her dissertation. Today, she helps animals full-time — and finally feels fulfilled.
Julia always cared about animals. But when it came to choosing a career, she picked Computer Science — it seemed practical. Her plan was to make decent money, maybe open an animal sanctuary one day.
Then she discovered you can actually work for animals full-time. She applied for a job while still at university. Got rejected. It didn’t discourage her. She applied again. This time, she got in. Now she is working for animals every day.
Sounds a bit like you? Apply to our Fellowship Program! 🐥

Billions of animals live in factory farming systems that cause immense suffering. And despite the scale of the problem, relatively few people are working to change it. That’s why we need more motivated, critical-thinking, and proactive people in this space. ✊
The Anima International Fellowship is a 3-week, fully funded program designed to help you get started. You’ll learn how effective animal advocacy works, build practical skills, and connect with people already working on high-impact change. The application deadline is May 17.
